Report: XWA Omega Championship Vacated, Expectations For Next Title Match
Report by Jeffrey Grey
Due to personal commitments that XWA Omega Champion Minkaro has to take care of, he'll be away from in-ring action for a while after XWA On a Pole, with no specific timetable for a return. As such, and not wanting to hold the title hostage, he's reportedly asked XWA officials to vacate the championship.
As for how a new champion will be crowned, rumors are that XWA owner Dean Richardson plans to put the semi-finalists who don't make it to the finals of the upcoming Lord of the Ring tournament in a match at the Lord of the Ring supershow. According to the report, this year's tournament may feature 12 competitors instead of 16 and, if that's the case, it will be handled in three rounds. In the second round, there will be two triple threat matches. Assuming the tournament does indeed go on with just 12 participants, it would be all four semi-finalists who don't reach the final round, facing off at the supershow. As far as the championship's stipulation goes, since everybody involved would be a challenger, they would each choose a stipulation and then there would be a fan vote to determine which of the chosen stipulations gets used.
There is no word yet on what Minkaro is dealing with or how long he'll be out for.
