Frank Lawson doesn't know what to make of his opponent's unnerving calmness. Troy Spencer, having just handed his Omega Championship belt to referee Kirk Samson on the outside, climbs into the ring through the cage door to where Lawson and senior official Jack Tickles await him. He seems very loose, a confident smirk on his face, unfitting of the fact that he's about to compete in a potentially brutal Steel Cage Match, not to mention it being in the finals of one of the most prestigious tournaments in wrestling. Where's his trademark scowl? The mind games have clearly begun already. Frank leers at his opponent as Troy loosens up across the ring, rolling his neck and shoulders around. Referee Mandy Baker closes and locks the cage door as Samson takes both the Omega Title and Lawson's World Television Title belt over to the timekeeper's table, while Tyler Lawson looks on from the other side of the cage, once again here for moral support of his cousin.
Sanction: "Here it is. The Television Champion versus the Omega Champion. The Lord of the Ring Finals."
Steel: "The winner gets a Supreme Title shot on any show he wants within the next year. This one's for all the marbles!"
As soon as the cage is locked, Troy steps forward and approaches Frank. The height difference between the two is negligible as Troy gets right in Frank's face. To the fans, this is actually reminiscent of the ending of the previous Massacre, as the two met face to face in the ring after Lawson's victory over Razor Xtreme to qualify for this Final match, but considering the concussion that Razor had given Frank in said match, this is the first real good look at Spencer that Lawson has gotten that he can remember. After exchanging a few choice words with each other, Troy peels away and turns his attention to the elder Lawson. He walks over to the corner and addresses Tyler. One of the cameras picks up him saying "I hope you know I'm about to break your cousin in half. And if you try to do anything about it I'll break you too."
Steel: "Well it's a real possibility that Tyler Lawson's gonna try to interfere in this match, I think, but if he knows what's good for him he shouldn't mess with Troy Spencer."
Tyler mutters back something along the lines of "We'll see about that, asshole." as said asshole turns back toward his opponent. Finally his grin has faded and the scowl has arrived. Frank steps forward, ready to roll, as Tickles makes sure both are ready to begin. No objections, and the crowd goes nuts as he finally calls for the bell.
DING DING DING
Troy's right hand immediately shoots into the air. Frank is initially confused by this; why does every opponent try to sucker the big man into a test of strength? Nearly every match he's had here in the XWA has started out like this, and all of them have seemingly ended in the opponent trying some underhanded tactic to gain the advantage. Lawson initially doesn't budge, but after thinking back to the scouting report he had on Spencer, which said he loves trying to overpower larger opponents a la Joey Miles, decides to take him up on the offer. Frank extends his left arm, slowly interlocking fingers with his opponent. Once they're cinched, the Zero Wolf goes to extend his right arm for the same. But no sooner does he move his hand out of reach...WHAM! Troy explodes forward and kicks him square in the scrotum, making a Low Blow the first move of this match. Frank doubles over and drops to one knee, clutching his groin with one hand and trying not to puke, while the crowd rain a deluge of boos into the cage. The smile returns to the face of "The Vigilante", as he's successfully psyched out his opponent and fooled him by doing exactly what everyone would expect him to do.
Sanction: "Well that's certainly one way to start this match."
Steel: Ahh calm your tits, Mark. It's a smart way to go, there's no disqualifications here so it's as legal as a chinlock!"
Still holding onto Lawson's hand, Troy bends down and laughs in Frank's face as the TV champion grunts and groans in agony. After Spencer's had his fill, he pulls Frank up to his feet, grabs him by the head, and drags him toward the side of the ring before throwing him face-first into the side of the cage. Lawson's forehead bounces off the steel, and he stumbles backwards into his opponent's waiting arms. Troy wraps Frank up around the waist and hoists him up into the air, but rather than going back into a suplex, he calls an audible. He stops Lawson's momentum and whips him back forward, almost like a Spinebuster, instead kneeling out into a Wheelbarrow Facebuster variant. As Frank holds his face, Troy slowly and meticulously floats over on his opponent's back, sneering at the crowd as they vigorously boo him. He stops after turning 180 degrees momentarily, but after a brief pause he keeps going, making another full circle to piss everyone off even more. A chant of "Aaaaaasshoole!" starts to break out as he takes his sweet time on the second rotation. Finally, he ends up back at Frank's head. He grabs it and stands up, pulling Lawson with him. Before long he gets the big man up into a Front Facelock, and after a quick glance over toward Tyler, powers him up into the air with little trouble. Troy takes a few steps forward toward the center of the ring, then falls back to drive Frank's neck and shoulders into the canvas with a Brainbuster.
Sanction: "Oh no that's not a....oh, Brainbuster!"
Steel: "That may have just been a regular Brainbuster but there was definitely some intent there. We all remember how Tyler reacted when Razor Xtreme went to do the Sharpshooter last Massacre."
Tyler simply shakes his head. After last time he expected something like that but maybe not this early. Troy looks a smidge annoyed at the relative lack of reaction but otherwise wastes no time in making the first pin attempt of the match.
..Frank makes a strong kickout shortly after two, but he's clearly in trouble here in the early going, and quickly goes right back to holding his sore crotch. Troy rolls off his opponent and stands back up, ready to inflict some more punishment. The Vigilante grabs Lawson by the back of the head and pulls him up to his knees before dropping a stiff punch right to the forehead. Frank's head snaps back as he tries to spin away from Spencer; he steps up onto his feet but doesn't perfectly catch his balance and stumbles a bit toward the corner. Troy quickly catches up to him. Spencer grabs Frank's head and pulls him to the corner, smashing his face into something yet again, this time the top turnbuckle. In one fluid motion, Troy whirls Frank around and backs him into the corner, then starts laying into him with several more punches. Frank's forehead stitches had to get reapplied after facing Razor Xtreme, and now they're going to need to be replaced again, as these shots open him right back up. Having achieved his goal of busting his opponent open, Troy steps away from the corner and into the center of the ring. As Frank cradles his head in his hands, Troy arrogantly raises both hands into the air in a V, provoking the crowd into booing him even more. Frank looks at the blood on his palms and groans "Not agaiiin." as he tries to regain his bearings in the corner. Lawson wipes his right hand off on his singlet as Spencer comes back over to him, staring daggers into his opponent's nefarious grin. Troy grabs Frank by the wrist and starts to pull him back away from the corner. However, just as he starts to accelerate Lawson into what would be an Irish Whip, Frank plants his feet and stops dead in his tracks. Troy yanks a couple times in vain, growling "Still got some fight in you, huh, ya big bastard?". He builds up some strength and again tries to haul Frank across the ring, but again Lawson stonewalls him. Instead, Frank responds by pulling back himself with a grunt. He falls to the mat, using his momentum to flip Troy forward, where he crashes back-first into the turnbuckles. Is that an Arm Drag? I dunno, maybe.
Sanction: "Finally a sign of life from Lawson!"
Steel: "And from what I've seen of him before he's bound to be pissed!"
Frank rolls out to the apron as Troy lands in a heap in the corner. In a bit of a tight squeeze between the ropes and the side of the cage, Frank tries to quickly pull himself back to his feet while Troy is still trying to figure out which way is up. Frank reaches his feet and leans against the cage for a second to recover, but doesn't have much time to do so, as Troy scrambles to his feet as well. Spencer turns to face Lawson, who lashes out, nailing him with a backhand that could almost be described as a Knife-Edge Chop to the face. Troy is caught off guard by the sudden strike; he stumbles to the left a bit before nearly falling back, having to catch himself by grabbing the top rope. Lawson glares at his opponent, then turns and looks at the cage wall, getting an idea. He grabs the top rope himself, pushing it forward as far as he can, before violently pulling back, slingshotting Troy over and face-first into the chain links. The Omega champion lands, woozy, folded over the top rope, allowing Frank to follow up. The TV champion quickly steps back into the ring and hurries to the ropes on the far side. As Troy pushes himself backwards and lands back on his feet, Frank rebounds off the ropes and comes barreling across the ring to nail Spencer in the back with a Running Dropkick to the back. This sends Troy sprawling forward, and once again he smashes into the side of the cage full-force. Having fought back with a flurry of unorthodox offense, Frank then looks to take control with his bread and butter. After Troy collapses to one knee, Lawson peels himself off the mat and grabs his opponent around the head. Quickly, he hooks the arm and tosses Troy back with a Single-Arm Throw, staying right on top as he lands and hooking the leg to make a cover.
...Kickout. Frank had his hands cinched but Troy still powered out and broke his grip. His breathing a little labored, Frank reaches up and checks his forehead. The blood's dried for now but by how raw it is he imagines it won't be difficult to open it back up again. The doctor's gonna kill him. As Tyler sees this at ringside, he quickly gets an idea and starts to circle around the cage in front of the commentary table.
Sanction: "Oh now where's Tyler Lawson going?"
Steel: "No don't come over here, I might catch whatever disease he has that makes him think he's a pirate sometimes!"
Tyler shoots Matt Steel a dirty look as he crosses in front of the table, but continues into the corner to grab an empty chair from the press area. After Frank gets up, noticing that his cousin is doing something, Tyler chucks the chair into the air and over the side of the cage. It falls into the ring with a loud clang, nearly killing Jack Tickles, but he comedically dives out of the way. Frank reaches down and grabs the chair before turning back to Tyler, who barks a simple "He busted you open, bust him open!" at him. A smile creeps onto Frank's face as he understands what Tyler's getting at. Troy rolls over and starts to push himself up as Frank backs into the corner, a look of malice in his eye. He bangs the chair on the mat a couple times to beckon Spencer to him, and when Troy's finally up, Frank rushes forward and clobbers him in the face with the weapon, to the delight of the decidedly pro-Lawson crowd. The Vigilante hits the canvas like a rock, and Lawson wastes no time in falling on top of him for another cover.
....Kickout! Troy pops his head up briefly as part of the kickout, showing a small trickle of blood at the corner of his eyebrow where the chair nailed him. Frank scoots away over toward the chair, . As Troy rolls over and clutches his throbbing head, Lawson thinks for a second before formulating his next plan. He grabs the chair and places it face-up in the very center of the ring before climbing back up and approaching Troy. Spencer is up on his hands on his knees, but doesn't make it back to his feet before Frank comes up behind him. The Zero Wolf grabs an arm and a leg and powers Troy up into the air. Stepping carefully over the chair, it looks like he's about to go for a Cyclone Drop. But Troy has other ideas, and before Frank can slam him on the chair he begins to wriggle free. Frank tries to keep his grip, but Troy is a slippery fuck and manages to work his way out of the hold. Spencer lands on his feet behind Lawson, and they're back to back. Both try to whirl around to face each other as fast as they can, but Troy's explosiveness wins out, and he has the wherewithal to throw a punch as he turns. It connects square with Lawson's jaw, and rocks him. While Frank stands there, dazed, Troy takes advantage of the opening to retake the advantage. He circles around and grabs the big man around the waist, tucking his head under Frank's arm. With little trouble, he lifts Lawson straight up into the air, then lets the bottom fall out to drive him right down onto the chair with a Back Suplex.
Sanction: "Oh and right on the chair. That sure backfired for Lawson!"
Steel: "And now Troy's got a free weapon to use!"
Troy takes a moment to recover as Frank writhes around on the mat. A drop of blood drips from Troy's brow to the canvas but he pays it no mind. Instead he grabs the chair and drags himself up to his feet, then stumbles to the corner over by Tyler. His head tilted up, clearly trying to look down at the elder Lawson, he points at the chair and goes "What's this, huh? Is this your doing?" Tyler sticks his hands out to either side sheepishly and sarcastically nods, as if anybody else would have done so. Troy scowls at him, "This...this is the worst mistake you could have made tonight. And now you get to watch." He turns back toward Frank, who is trying to pull himself up with the ropes. Lawson catches a glimpse of his opponent, but doesn't have enough time to do anything as Troy grabs him by the head and pulls him away. Placing the top of the chair under Frank's chin, Troy rears Frank back before driving the feet of the chair into the mat, which pushes the top straight into his throat. Having effectively taken a Stunner, Frank jerks backwards and falls flat on his back, choking and wheezing after the attack on his windpipe. But Troy's not done yet, and he spins the chair in his hands, now holding it by the crossbeam on the legs. With Frank distracted by his throat, the Vigilante uses his free hand to grab his opponent's left leg, pulling it to the side and out of the way. He rears back exaggeratedly before sharply driving the chair straight down into Frank's crotch. The crowd lets out a collective "oof" as Lawson nearly goes into shock after being hit in the dick for the second time. He collapses to the side, laying down on the mat in the fetal position as Troy chuckles to himself.
Sanction: "And just a brutal, violent match so far here in the steel cage."
Steel: "'Well of course it is! It's the Lord of the Ring finals! These two have to prove they're willing to do whatever it takes to earn that Supreme Title shot!"
As Frank lays there in agony, Troy goes back over to Tyler and taunts him some more, waving the chair around in front of him and even going "Nah-nahna-nah-naaah!" at him. Tyler threateningly grabs the chain links. Troy laughs at him, retorting "Go on, climb the cage. I'll beat you up too." Frank, in a lot of pain now, is struggling back up to his hands and knees. Troy arrogantly saunters back over toward him, chair in hand, looking to keep up the punishment. Just as Frank starts putting his feet on the ground to stand up, Troy swings the chair and cracks it over his back, dropping him back down to one knee. With the chair now dented, Troy tosses it away, and it lands with a clang in the corner. The Omega champion follows up by grabbing his opponent and pulling him back up. He powers Frank into the air, turns back away from the corner, and deposits the big guy directly in the center of the ring with a hard Spinebuster. Troy looks to put this one away with a cover.
.....No! Frank hasn't had enough just yet, and he gets the shoulder up. He rolls over onto his stomach as Troy scoots away. Frank's face hurts, his back hurts, his nuts hurt; he doesn't know which body part to hold, so he just lays there motionless on his stomach while Troy rolls out to the apron. Frank's got to do something to turn this one around; he's getting his ass kicked. But he can't do anything about it just yet, as Troy slings himself over the top rope, holds on with one hand to twist himself around in the air, and drives a Slingshot Elbow Drop right into the back of the TV champion's neck.
Sanction: "Impressive body control by Troy Spencer there to avoid the cage and land that move."
Steel: "I don't know about you but he's lookin like the Lord of the Ring to me!"
Frank grabs his neck and yells out in a combination of pain and frustration. Troy can't help but laugh, remarking to himself "Heh, this is easier than I thought. C'mon big guy, that all you got?" Frank grunts, trying to will himself up in response, but it's tough going, as Troy pops up much quicker in comparison. As Lawson stands back up, Spencer peppers him with a number of light kicks and stomps, intended as much to deal damage as they are to tick him off and push his buttons. After enduring several of said kicks, the Zero Wolf finally reaches his feet, where he is met with a hard slap. Troy smirks at Frank, who slowly turns back to face him, a look of rage crossing his face. The TV champ retaliates, rearing back and nailing Troy with a Forearm Strike. Spencer fires back with one of his own, remarking "What'cha got?" to goad him on a little more. Troy almost holds out his chin for Frank to hit again, seeming to want to continue this strike battle, but Frank has other ideas. Just as Troy did to him earlier, he takes advantage of his opponent being distracted to deliver a devastating Low Blow directly to Troy's taint. The Omega champion's eyes immediately widen in anguish as he gets a taste of his own medicine.
Steel: "Oh no!"
Sanction: "Payback for Lawson!"
Troy's knees buckle, the crowd roars to life, and Frank gets a burst of adrenaline. He grabs Spencer around the waist, hooking an ankle into what normally is a kneebreaker position. However, he instead roars with rage and carries him over to the ropes, slamming him dick-first on the top rope. Troy groans at the assault on his manhood, but Frank isn't satisfied. He keeps a hold on his opponent and lifts him back up before crotching him on the top again...and again...and again! The crowd lets out a "YEAH!" at all four. Frank takes a step back then sharply kicks the top rope, driving it into Troy's nether regions once again. Pretty sure he's about to cough up blood, Spencer's first instinct is to fall to his left out of the ring, but the cage is in the way, so the Vigilante simply bounces off and stays upright. Lawson is there to meet him, and he hooks Troy's arm in a Half Nelson before scooping him off of the ropes and onto his shoulder. Frank turns back toward the ring...and drops Troy right on his head with the Disaster Driver. Troy crumples up into a ball, and Frank holds his shoulders down for the pin.
.....Kickout! Almost caught him there! Frank looks a little disappointed there, but it's not like he was putting all his hopes on that move getting the pin. Unfortunately, however, his little burst of energy has taken a bit out of him, and he struggles a bit standing back up. Troy rolls over into a more comfortable position, breathing heavily and still obviously favoring his groin.
Sanction: "This has been an absolutely wild and chaotic match so far that I don't think either man prepared for in advance!"
Steel: "Not much to prepare for. The only thing that's for sure in a steel cage is that nothing's for sure! And I'd know, this match is named after me!"
You can almost hear Mark Sanction facepalm as Frank reaches his feet and pulls Troy back up. He couldn't get it before, but maybe after a little more damage it'll work this time; he picks Troy up onto his shoulders, looking for the Cyclone Drop again. He has a little trouble balancing Troy on his shoulders, but seems to get him under control enough to twist one way, then spin around the other...but Spencer wriggles free mid-rotation and circles around Lawson, grabbing his head and arm as he lands on his feet. With Frank off-balance he has no way to counter, and Troy quickly bends forward and snaps him back into a beautiful Reverse STO counter. The crowd deflates from their solid cheer at Frank being in control to a dull murmur, as Troy stops the pace dead. Having taken a lot of damage in quick succession, he's unable to follow up on his counter, so the Vigilante instead takes the time to recover some energy as both he and his opponent lay nearly motionless on the canvas. Troy makes sure nothing is crushed in...you know where, but why are you looking at that anyway, you weirdo? After several seconds, Frank starts to pull himself back up, having gotten over the shock of being dropped on his face. Seeing his opponent start to recover, Troy gets up as well. Having a slight head start, Frank actually manages to get up first, but Troy's ready for him. The Zero Wolf sees his opponent and throws a murderous forearm at him, but Spencer gets his hands up to block it. Troy forceably shoves Frank's arm out of the way, then takes advantage of his exposed face by rearing back and nailing him with a big Superkick. Frank's head snaps back and he goes stumbling backwards, trying to catch his balance. He manages to catch himself in the corner, but is clearly knocked for a loop and leans meekly against the turnbuckles. Troy, hands on his knees, sizes him up from across the ring.
Steel: "Troy needs to get back on him after that."
Looking to do just that and keep up the pressure, Troy briefly pops up into the air before charging across the ring. He leaps into the air and nails Lawson across the chest with his whole body, in a sort of Crossbody Stinger Splash into the corner. Troy's momentum takes him out to the apron to Frank's right. Troy catches himself on the cage and ponders his position for a moment before getting an idea. He sticks his right arm over the top rope and back into the ring, then charges forward and hits the still-woozy Lawson with a big Lariat in the corner. But he's not done there. He rears back and starts delivering Short Clothesline after Short Clothesline, making Frank wince with every strike to the chest. Tyler can be seen looking concerned as Frank takes more an more punishment, but is worry is soon dissipated. Frank's anger builds as the shots go on, and eventually he gets his arms up to block one. Troy goes for another, but Frank shoves it away, just as his forearm was shoved away before, then counters with a back elbow to the head. Then another, as Troy's head bounces off the side of the cage. In desperation, Frank does the only thing he can think of in this situation. He grabs Troy's head and falls forward, hanging the Vigilante up over the top rope. It looks kinda like a Cutter, but Troy instead gets folded in half over the rope.
Sanction: "Lawson really being forced to play defense this entire match. Now that he's got an opening, can he sustain some offense here?"
As Lawson gingerly rubs his chest, Troy tries to balance himself by placing his feet on the middle rope. Frank takes a deep breath; he's taken quite a beating so far. Troy's done a good job of spreading the damage out. While he hasn't really targeted any body part more than any other, and Frank isn't yet heavily hindered from standing or doing moves, he certainly hurts all over, and it would only take one big move to put him in a pickle fast. But luckily for Lawson, he's done the same to Spencer. Looking to hit that big move himself, he slowly pulls himself up with the ropes. However, Troy was playing possum! He uses a burst of energy to seize the opportunity and pushes off on the second rope. He acrobatically leaps over the top rope, grabs Frank's head, and twists his body around just enough to hit his signature Nadir! Out of nowhere!
Sanction: "And now Lawson trying to pull himself u-OHMYGODNADIR! Spencer just hits the Nadir out of absolutely nowhere!"
Steel: "What a move! And we're about to see our Lord of the Ring crowned!"
After the explosive move, Troy needs to take a second to catch his breath, but it looks like he has the time to spare. The impact bounced Frank off the mat and onto his back, and he lays spread-eagle on the canvas, not moving, possibly out cold. Spencer struggles to turn over, but does and crawls over and throws an arm over Lawson's chest for the pin. Tyler yells at Frank to kick out from ringside as Jack Tickles slides in to make the count.
.....NO! Frank just gets the shoulder up in time to break the count! Troy rolls off him, looking annoyed. He could have got the win there if he was just a little faster, and he knows it. His face gradually turns into a deep scowl as he slowly struggles back to his feet. He looks around the cage. In one corner is the used steel chair, leaning up against the ropes. In the other is Tyler Lawson, shouting encouragement to his cousin through a small hole in the chain link that's used to stick cameras through for the broadcast. There's an idea. Spencer goes and grabs the chair, then crosses the ring back toward Tyler. The Vigilante taunts the elder Lawson once again, holding the chair out in his general direction and shouting "You're about to see me end all of your cousin's dreams...and all of your dreams..." But then, Tyler acts quickly, reaching through the camera hole...and he grabs the chair! Knowing he can't get it out of the ring, he at least pulls the weapon through the ropes and as close to the hole as he can to buy time for Frank to recover. He hangs on for dear life as Troy tries to pry it away from him.
Steel: "And now Tyler's getting involved! Throw him out, ref!"
Sanction: "Well he's the one that introduced the chair in the first place!"
Frank's still groggy after taking the Nadir, but instinctively starts to crawl over to the corner to get himself up. Troy yanks and pulls to try to get the chair out of Tyler's hand, but the Instant Classic only grabs his right arm with his left to try to hold on more tightly. Eventually Troy overpowers him and manages to pull Tyler's arm into the cage, slamming his shoulder into the steel to force him to release. After a second pull, Tyler does end up releasing, and pulls his arm in close; hopefully he delayed Troy long enough. The Omega champion rushes over to Frank, who's propping himself up in the corner, as Tyler holds his shoulder. Troy lines up his shot, looking to bring the chair down right on top of Frank's head. He swings...Lawson ducks and rolls underneath! The chair clangs off the turnbuckle and the connector to the post, and Troy's hands sting from the impact. He turns around, still holding the chair, only to be met by a huge Big Boot, which sends the chair smashing into the Vigilante's face. The crowd comes back to life as Spencer hits the mat, and Lawson tries to feed off that to power another surge of energy as he yells out and picks his opponent back up. After turning Troy back to the center of the ring, he locks him up in a Pumphandle, takes a deep breath, and heaves him up into the air. Frank steps forward, then sits out into the Mutiny. The cover.
.....Troy gets his right shoulder up!
Sanction: "Somehow, after a grueling match, after a grueling tournament, Troy Spencer is somehow able to get the shoulder up!"
Steel: "Well it goes both ways, Mark! Lawson's beat, too, and he definitely didn't put everything he could on that move or that cover!"
Frank sighs; he had a feeling that move wasn't going to be the one that finishes it. In this match, in this situation, there's only one move that'll do, and he staggers back to his feet to start setting up for it. He grabs his neck for a quick second after he reaches his feet, but fights through it to reach down and pull Troy up. The crowd starts to swell even more as the Zero Wolf puts the Vigilante into a double underhook position, as they all know what will be coming next after this next move. However, Troy knows what's coming, too. As soon as Frank picks him up for the Butterfly Suplex, he starts kicking his legs, and with Frank in a deteriorated state he can't hold him for very long. Troy drops, managing to spin around and land on his feet, and in desperation tries to throw a Clothesline at Frank. Lawson sees it coming, though; he drops down to avoid Spencer's right arm and grabs him around the waist while he's down there. Back and forth they go, rapid-fire, counter for counter, both running on fumes and unable to hit their moves, just barely able to avoid each other's. Frank lifts Troy up and tries for a Belly-to-Belly Suplex, but Troy elbows him in the head several times and he's forced to put him down. Troy shoves Frank away and in as swift a motion as he can tries to end it right here with The Void, but can't quite catch Lawson quick enough with his knockout punch as he once again ducks to avoid it. Finally, Frank wraps his big paws around Troy's head and arm, roaring as his lifts him, spins, and hurls him down onto the canvas with an impactful Urinage.
Steel: "These two just will not let up!"
Sanction: "What a main event!"
Frank is nearly spent. He knows he doesn't have time for formalities. It's time to end this while he has the chance. He pulls Spencer up once more and hooks him up in the Front Facelock. He looks out through the cage; the crowd's on their feet, ready to see the conclusion of this one. Lawson resolves to give it to them. Troy goes up, trying meekly to air-kick his way ouy of this one, but can't, as he swiftly gets spiked on his head with the Toxic Spike. Frank doesn't have enough energy to flip himself back on top of his limp opponent, so he releases him upwards, rolls over, and shoots the half to make the pin.
Frank sits there in shock as the announcers and crowd go bananas at the false finish. Somehow, some way, he didn't put enough on it to finish Troy off. Spencer slumps over limply onto his side; he clearly kicked out on instinct and instinct alone. Staggering back to his feet, Frank tries to think of something else to do. He turns to Tyler, who's trying to yell at him "Do it again! Give him another one! Give him another one!" Frank nods; if anyone knows the Toxic Spike, it's Tyler, and if he thinks one more ought to do it, it's worth a shot. Troy's on spaghetti legs, so he offers little resistance to being picked up again. Frank cracks his neck before putting Spencer back in the Front Facelock. However, before he goes up, Lawson gets another idea. Instead of grabbing him at the waist, he reaches down and grabs Troy's right arm. He pulls it up and flips the Omega champion over, converting it into an inverted Front Facelock. Frank smirks as Tyler looks on confused. With a loud grunt, Frank picks Troy up as strongly as he can, but before he can do anything, Troy counters once again, swinging his leg up and nailing a knee right to the top of Lawson's head. The shock of the unexpected counter causes Frank to immediately drop him, and Troy immediately transitions it into a beautiful Headscizzors, taking Frank down to the mat.
Steel: "I don't know if Lawson was going for some kind of Inverted Toxic Spike there but it took too long!"
Sanction: "Not to downplay the spectacular counter by Spencer!"
Troy is relentless. He wants to win this by any means necessary. He's decided to stop taunting, and gets up, stonefaced, as fast as his body will let him. Frank tries to desperately scramble back to his feet as well, but the element of surprise is on Spencer's side, and he lashes out with his right foot, nailing Frank in the side of the head with a desperation Roundhouse Kick. Both men collapse to the mat: Frank from nearly being knocked out, Troy from all the punshment he just took catching back up to him. They both stay down for a while, absolutely exhausted. The crowd starts a big synchronized clap for Frank, led by Tyler at ringside banging on the cage with both hands. After several he stops to rub his shoulder, remembering how Troy rammed it into the cage earlier. Eventually, Troy rolls himself over, a look of pure hatred in his eyes. He pushes himself up to his hands and knees, stalking his opponent, sizing him up. The crowd starts booing. They've seen this before. Frank shakes the cobwebs out; he looks like he's in la-la land. With every awkward, pain-staking movement of Frank pulling himself back up once again, Troy is behind him, watching, waiting. Spencer is fighting through some pain in his shoulders, as he rubs his trapezius sporadically throughout his wait, but he's trying his damnedest to fight through it. Finally Lawson is up. He turns. The Vigilante leaps up, looking for another Nadir...but Frank has it scouted! He shoves him away with all the strength he has left, and Spencer falls alone, landing flat on his back. The fans explode into cheers. They were sure the match was going to end there.
Sanction: "Nadir? No! Counter for counter these two go!"
Steel: "How much longer can this go?"
Troy arches his back and grimaces from the impact. Frank hunches over, with his hands on his knees. Something's got to give pretty soon. Troy's still well aware he's in trouble, so he tries as hard as he can to scramble back to his feet. But the wear of the tournament catches up to him, and he slips trying to put his left foot down. Cringing, he slowly rights himself and stands up, now not in time to avoid the chargins Frank Lawson, who levels him with a huge Lariat. In a final show of fighting spirit, Frank screams, reaching down one more time to pull Troy back to his feet, using a bit of a Dragon Sleeper technique to get him into the same Inverted Front Facelock as he had before. The crowd is on their feet again. Finishing what he started a minute or so ago, Frank picks Troy up into the air, holds him for just as long as he can, and hits, for the first time, the Reverse Toxic Spike. Troy stands straight on his head for a split second upon impact, before crumpling into a limp ball of abstract anger on the mat. Frank rolls his opponent over and sprawls on top of him for the cover.
