It feels like it has been awhile since I have read an Angelica Vaughn match, and let me tell you, forgot how much of a treat they were. The vuvuzela gimmick is silly, but I really liked it and felt the pay off was strong. In terms of in ring action, your descriptions were strong, with a strong case and point being that first kick to the head of Angelica and "his pectorals are a smorgasbord of red, purple and blue bruises" being just a great visual. Great work there. I like the overall selling, you do a good job of remembering wrestling matches are exhausting and playing that up. Loved that you dedicated more time to submissions, the little bits where you slow down the pace help keep the tense more actiony bits more well, intense!
I still think your pace could use a bit more fine tuning. There was an overall quickness to the match that didn't quite give me as a read enough time to breath. I feel it was super close to that point, but just keep me moving just a little bit too fast. Spotwise was a little low for my personal tastes, but made up for it with just brutal intensity for the most part. The actual commentary itself felt slightly cartoony to me, like it was two friends commentating a match, whereas I feel the commentary are more antagonistic, with maybe just Steel thinking they are friends. I was a little unsure of when you had Kaida crawling away in fear. I didn't, didn't fit the character to me.
I want every match to begin with a powerful quote. Right from the bat you set a mood and I love it. As a colossal weeb, I loved the little bits of Japanese sprinkled throughout the post. Really cool, though I am not good enough at the language to know how accurate it is. Your Matt Steel is great to read, love the little bit with Angelica running up to him and shouting in his face. Your ending was crazy intense and impactful. You also captured the personalities of the other wrestler really well, at least in my eyes, and that is super cool, helps make the match feel unique. Selling was great, love to see wrestler clutch where they have been struck and checking on it throughout the match a little, keeps it grounded in reality.
You had limited submissions in this match, but from what I did see, I would like to see you slow them down a little. Right now the intensity of the match was very continuous or increasing, which doesn't give the read much time to breath. Coupled with it, there were a couple of points I would have liked to seen more description, or alternatively, less. For example, at one point you had Mark Storey hit a lungblower on Angelica, which you described as brutal, which would be fine if that segment of the match was more rapid fire to help keep things quick, but in the current context I wanted to hear more about how the lungblower made her reaction and flop about.
WINNER: Kaida Kagome. This is one of those matches where I flopped about several times during the voting, cause both there matches were so good. In this case, the deciding factor was Kaida did a better job of capturing Angelica in their match than Angelica did Kaida.
I am super stoked to see a potential rematch between you two, because this was super good and I see great things in both of your futures here. Also, good luck in the Lord of the Ring Tournament!
