Franz Woyzeck vs. Terrance Ainley

We personally can't wait to see what new things this match brings us to kick off the show!

XWA's recent recruitment drive has proven to be a success, with many new people joining up to make a name for themselves and carve their existence into the history of the wrestling world.

Hana Ramierez:
The following contest is scheduled for one fall...

Two people of this ilk are set to go head to head here. As Hana Ramierez and the referee stand ready, it's like we've been transported back to the 80's earlier than advertised, as "Don't You (Forget About Me)" by Simple Minds plays out.

Somewhere a teacher fist pumps, but right here the fans are loving it. They've no idea who's coming out, but the song is nice enough. Within seconds, Terrance Ainley makes his way through the curtain to a polite reception from the front row. Everyone else is just liking the song.

Hana Ramierez:
Introducing first, making his way to the ring- from Venice Beach, California, weighing 207 Ibs...TERRANCE! AAAIIIINNLEEEYYYYY!!

Mark Sanction:
Oh yeah, Terrance Ainley. I've heard a lot about this kid. Highly reccomended, apparently. I spoke to him earlier regarding this match tonight. He's everything we look for- plucky, couragious and with a will to succeed. Terrance has trained for years, made his name on the independents in his area. This is actually his first appearance on any sort of televised show.

Matt Steel:
Big leagues now, kiddo.

Terrance rolls into the ring, throwing his arms up into the air to more polite cheers from this Mexico City crowd. Looking out he sees all sorts of people- fans, spectators, there's even a nice looking blonde girl in the front row smiling, which takes Ainley quite aback. He's not used to this level of attention. He wasn't ready for it, but he's ready for whoever comes out this curtain now. This is his big match, and no one is ruining it for him. Much less this next man...

Hana Ramierez:
And his opponent- from Munich, Germany...weighing 226 Ibs...FRAAAAAANZZ WOYZEEEECCCKKK!!

The blonde adonis-like Franz Woyzeck emerges from the curtain. Less jumpy or enthusiastic than Terrance definitely, but no less impressive looking. The German native makes his way down the ramp, swaggering while he walks with a little bit of a sneer.

Matt Steel:
Now we're talking- get a load of this guy!

Mark Sanction:
Franz Woyzeck- a man I will admit to have never heard of before tonight- also making his debut here tonight. From what we're told, he is a wrestler who has thrived in Germany. I do happen to know he describes himself as a "family man", though. Which is nice for him, I suppose!

Matt Steel:
Pfft. Like that's gonna help him here. No family in that ring, young man. Boring! Where are Catastrophe when you need them? I hope they wreck this thing.

At the bottom of the ramp, he looks around. He clocks everything- a fan in the front row wearing a Razer T-shirt, a man with a camera, the referee for whatever reason, then finally Terrance Ainley. Sliding in under the bottom rope, the two lock eyes. There is a story to this match that no one else in the arena nor the commentary desk will be aware of. A story that needs to be told. You see, Terrance Ainley knows this man, and vice versa. But enough of that for now, because- not even noticing him before- Terrance clocks the referee, who is calling them into battle once again. Terrance's eyes widen as he looks into the eyes of the family man, as he walks forwards to him. Franz catches his attention with a small crack of his neck. After going over the rules, Terrance and Franz back out and finally...

DING DING!

The two circle the ring for a few moments. They know each other so well, but now we're in XWA. Different environment, different rules. And a few moments pass when finally they tie-up. The most vicious, hungry tie-up you've ever seen. Both men have something to prove tonight, and they'll stop at nothing to get what they want. Finally it is Franz who gets the first upper hand with a nice side headlock. Terrance does his best to try and push out of it, but after a bit of swabbling and squirming only then does he manage to get his hand in through the hold and break it. Like he's breaking through a wall, he opens Franz arms out and puts it one behind his back in a wrist hold. Franz is having none of that, though. Spinning back out like this is some sort of lovely little dance of death, Franz pulls Terrance back in and flings him into the ropes. Terrance flies into the opposite rope, but Franz is there waiting for him and knocks him to the floor with a quick shoulder-block.

Terrance- not one to be bested by a silly little shoulder-block gets back up but is pulled into yet another Irish whip, but this time when Terrance comes off the ropes, does he get hit with another shoulder block? No he certainly does not. Franz tries to hit him with huge lariat this time, but Terrance has been hit with one of those before and he doesn't want to ever get hit with one again, so ducks under and drills into the opposite rope. As Franz turns around, he's met with a forearm, which has just flown right into his face and knocked him to the ground in a mix of shock and ouch. When Terrance tries to literally kick him in the head while he's down, Franz ducks out the way and squats to his feet, ramming Terrance into the corner with a furious streak and Terrance runs into the first chop of the evening, which is so loud the deaf could probably hear it. Terrance drops to his knees, clutching his chest.

Mark Sanction:
Man, this is more vicious than I expected for our first match here tonight!

Matt Steel:
We're the XWA, Mark! You gotta adapt to it. This ain't no little high school gym, this is reality. You are on the biggest stage and if you're bad, if you lose then we all see it. No family, no friends. You step in that ring and you are alone- from bell to bell, all you can do is win.

Mark Sanction:
That was pretty profound of you.

Matt Steel:
Really? It was accidental! Back to shitty jokes at wrestlers' expense soon, I promise!

Terrance is writhing in pain once again, which Franz takes advantage of as he pulls him to his feet. We're back in familiar territory for these two- Franz has always managed to have Terrance's number during these matches. The Californian first met him a year ago, and that match took such a toll on him that Franz broke his nose in lots of different places - not easy when you're a struggling star on the independents with no money to pay for it except that hundred bucks you earned to break said nose. Franz was quite apologetic afterwards. He is not apologetic here, though, as he pulls him out of the corner and takes Terrance down witha terrifyingly swift and efficient German Suplex! Terrance drops to the mat backfirst with a little bounce and Franz goes for the cover. The referee couldn't be more obliging!

KICKOUT!

Its not enough to put away Terrance Ainley. The man who hails from Venice Beach looks up at the family man again, in disbelief he's even here. This dream night where he'd escaped all the terrors of his indy career have followed him here, and his advasary stares back at him, beckoning him to continue. Terrance gets right back up and goes right after Franz. Hitting him with punches and kicks, anything he can get in there, he leaves Franz a little disorientated and dazed, while Terrance Ainley makes a dash towards the ropes, jumping up into the middle rope. Once Franz turns around, he's met with the bottom of the boots of Ainley, who has sprung off the middle rope and hit him with a springboard dropkick, knocking him to the ground. Now he is in the drivers seat, as he looks over to the man who puts his family before all. He drops to his knees and hooks the leg...

ONE!

....

TWO!

Franz kicks out, and Terrance gets back up to his feet.

Mark Sanction:
Two count only for Terrance there.

Matt Steel:
Not as "plucky" as he was when he first came into this one. If anything, he looks a bit shaken.

Looking to the corner and seeing that it'll obviously take a bit more to get rid of Franz, he gets to his feet and walks on over to the corner, exiting the ring and pulling himself slowly up onto the top rope. But Franz just kicked out and we're not even that far into the match yet, so he's in the position right now to get back up, and he does. Bouncing to attention before Terrance can even attempt anything, he storms over and cracks him in the head with a forearm smash, putting a stop to Terrance's ideas. Now Franz climbs to the top rope from his end.

Mark Sanction:
Nobody home for Terrance Ainley and...uh-oh.

Matt Steel:
Something big coming Mark!

But to no avail. Franz tries to hook Terrance in some sort of superplex position, which makes the fans in attendance anxious. Terrance can't let this happen. It wasn't too long ago he thought his career was over, that he may never get here. He cannot risk Franz injuring him again. Never ever again. Hitting Franz with the hardest elbows he can manage in such a clostrophobic position, the Aryan newbie loosens his grip, if only to hit Ainley with his own elbows. Terrance hits back with his own. Pretty soon, it's decended into a back and forth of elbow to elbow. Eventually Franz is blasted back with a fairly mean smack to the face which is so strong it knocks the German to the floor. In this, he's given Terrance Ainley enough time to reorganise himself. Now he's stood tall, Terrance turns his back and gives it everything he can and leaps up into the air and smashes Franz with a huge moonsault that amazes these fans in the Mexico City Arena.

Mark Sanction:
Oh man! The atheticism!

Matt Steel:
Wow, they're giving this everything, aren't they? They want to be remembere tonight. It might be hard to follow this up.

The moonsault is murder on the ribs but it's neccessary sometimes and Terrance Ainley, this blue chipper from Florida, knows this more than anyone, he stands up holding his ribs and watching the family man. Before he does anything else, he keeps doing that. Why? We don't know yet. But he looks at him in disgust, and quite right too. But we don't have the time to talk about it yet because Terrance has hooked the leg again!

Franz kicks out, again. The frustration of Terrance Ainley is kicking in. How did he get to this point? This should be a good thing, but he's fighting for his life. Not even an overstatement! But that means he has to win just that bit more. He pulls Franz Woyzeck to his feet, but the man from Munich pushes him away and clocks him with an efficient right hand and then a kick to the gut, leading into Franz hooking both Terrance's arms and taking him down with a huge Underhook Suplex leaving everyone in awe.

Matt Steel:
Nice! This Franz Woyzeck must be the suplex guy now.

Mark Sanction:
Fast offense vs. efficient strategy- this match in a nutshell, and I think they're making one hell of an impression so far to kick off here at Once Upon a Time in Mexico!

Franz waits for a few moments for Terrance to get back to his feet, but he doesn't. He's struggling. A suplex like tha after a moonsault- not a good combo, put it that way. So Franz rather helpfully drags him back up and once again with the irish whips. Terrance flies into the ropes as Franz goes into the opposite one. Remember that missed lariat earlier? Well like a boomerang, it's back. Knocking Terrance down with the massive hit of the lariat, the young blue chipper goes flying to the mat and rolling under the ropes, out of the ring. A disappointment in Franz mind. Well, not disappointment. Just apathy, really. Terrance Ainley was made for greater things. He could've had it all, and instead he's fighting it. As Terrance rolls out to the floor, Franz takes a moment to at least enjoy his glorious dominance so far, putting his arms out. He is, simply, better. He wants you all to know. Maybe you'll enjoy it- but Mexico is turning on him fast if the booing is anything to go by.

Mark Sanction:
Match firmly in the control of Franz Woyzeck at the moment as Terrance Ainley flounders to the outside.

Matt Steel:
Floundering is exactly what he's doing.

Franz follows Terrance out of the ring, the Californian trying still to get up. But now Franz is outside, pulling him to his feet. Throwing him into the barricade, Franz hits Terrance with another chop to the chest, prompting a big reaction from those in the crowd. "El woo" probably since we're in Mexico. Terrance clutches his chest, but he's gotta get back in this thing. As he tries his best to escape the situation, passing the announcer's desk, the commentary team, he can hear the referee's counting. It's almost like mockery. The ref is at about "three" now. As long as he hears the numbers, he's fine. Franz pursues him, and Terrance is aware of this. He knows he's coming. So he taunts him. Never a very good move, but he does it. He knows how fast he can move right now is enough to be able to do this. He stands right in front of the other barricade and beckons Franz. He's shouting anything and everything. Telling him to come on. The German loses all sense of this. He's like Marty McFly and Biff just called him a chicken. But soon he'll need a DeLorean to go back in time fix this next mistake, as he plunges but Terrance moving means he goes face-first into the barricade, knocking him back. The two are still on the outside. The ref is at six.

Mark Sanction:
Wow, you heard that right? That was a mean bash into the barricade, and Terrance Ainley gets some time to recover.

Matt Steel:
Yeah, whatever. Much needed I'm sure, but he needs to get a move on. That ref is going pretty damn quick with that count.

Mark Sanction:
He is, isn't he? Must be new.

As Terrance twitches towards the apron, so does Franz. From two corners of the ring, they both crawl up the ring skirts and into the ring, where suddenly they both look up and see the other. Staring right back. Once again, the forearms start, on the floor. One, by one, by one. Back and forth and back and forth. It takes one quite destructive forearm smash to finally stop Franz from hitting back. Terrance steps to his feet, taking a few minutes to breathe while Franz also uses the ropes to pull himself up into the corner. Terrance sees his opportunity, as do these fans apparently.

As he storms forwards, Franz kicks him right square in the gut, stopping him for a few moments. The referee sways over to Terrance, asking him if he's going to continue. Terrance, displaying a little attitude, pushes the ref away. The referee tilts his head a little and steps back just a few more steps, a look of apparent dispondency on his face. He shrugs, and then looks over to Terrance. As Terrance turns around, Franz takes him down with a huge running Double Axe Handle. Terrance flops to the mat, as Franz waits a few moments. Because he needs some time to recover now as well. The brawler has taken a bit of a toll, but that comes with the territory. Now, he drops to the mat himself, putting his arm over Terrance for the...

And Terrance Ainley's not calling it quits, kicking out.

Franz can't believe he's still in this. After all this time, Terrance Ainley refuses to be beaten. He sticks to his guns. In Franz mind, he shouldn't. He ruined a potentially good thing. All he needed to do was repay the favor. But instead, here Franz is beating the hell out of him, everywhere he goes, every night he sees him. Why can't Terrance just learn to stop fighting back? For one night...for just one night, Terrance. End it. But not tonight. No. Terrance Ainley lives to continue fighting. As the two of them reach their feet one more time, it's like slow motion as they lean into each other one might time with punch after punch after punch. Following a pretty large and strong uppercut, Terrance flings Franz into the ropes. But there's no rebound here. Instead, he kicks Franz over the top rope to the outside again, only this time it's to the ramp. Franz pulls himself up, but inside the ring Terrance Ainley has already run into the ropes opposite, bouncing off them and when Franz turns around Terrance flies over the top rope and takes Franz down with a thunderous senton bomb to the outside that drives the entire arena crazy!

Mark Sanction:
And a suicide dive! Franz Woyzeck is well and truly down and out, as Terrance Ainley takes things to the extreme!

Matt Steel:
I'm shocked by how much pain and punishment these two have put each other through. It's like they're bitter enemies out here.

Mark Sanction:
Well if they aren't already, they're destined to be for sure.

Matt Steel:
Uh...Mark? We have security out here, right?

Mark Sanction:
Sure we do. Why? Is Catastrophe out here or something?

Matt Steel:
No. No, not Catastrophe.

Franz isn't getting up. The referee is counting again. We're at four. Terrance struggles to his feet. He's absolutely overwhelmed by the pain he feels. Ref at five. He crawls forwards, towards the ring but looking down at the black matting. More black matting. Black matting with....someone stood there. Stood over him. Watching. And that's when his heart sinks. Looking up, he notices a face staring back at him. Short, blonde and sweet.

He knew she was there because he saw her right at the beginning. In the front row, grinning away even then! Then the family man made himself known to him, that's when he should have known. Because lets be real here. Franz loves his family so, so much. And they love him.

So why wouldn't they all be here?

Mark Sanction:
Oh my lord. Do...do you know know that is?

Matt Steel:
That's that girl from the weird videos they've been playing. Remember the one with Jack Mercy last month? I heard they took him away somewhere. The bar's in tatters.

Mark Sanction:
I've a voice in my earpiece telling me her name is Isabella Fenric.

Matt Steel:
But what is she doing here?

Mark Sanction:
Well you heard Mercy's warning- if she's here...then so are the rest of them.

Matt Steel:
But where?

Franz Woyzeck...or Franz Fenric to give the fibbing little shit his more accurate name, grabs Terrance Ainley's leg. Ref is at seven now. Franz hits Ainley in the back of the head and pulls him into the ring literally by his leg, like he's some sort of spider pulling up his prey. Once in the ring, he covers Ainley for a pin.

ONE!

THR
--No such luck.

Isabella stands outside, continuing to watch with that Cheshire Cat grin of hers. She's watching her brother, playing! Acting! Because he's so good at everything! He can do anything. Terrance grabs the ropes to pull himself up, but looks out to the stage. Yet more Fenrics are arriving. Mina Fenric, introduced to us in the Xperience exclusive promo, coming out in her business-y attire followed by another man. A much bigger man, also blonde. Wearing a leotard and possessing possibly the most horrifyingly mean look on his face, they come down the ramp and it's like the approach of death staring back at him. They stand with Isabella, looking like the loveliest little Aryan family photo of people who look like they'd murder you in your sleep.

Mark Sanction:
Oh God, here they come.

Matt Steel:
Who's that big one? I know the girl ones, I think Franz might be one...so that makes him, what Franz Fenric? I thought there were five, weren't there?

Mark Sanction:
I get it...I don't get it.

Terrance looks back. Referee and Franz Fenric in the ring, looking back at him. Terrance stands to his feet, looking into the eyes of the family man and beckoning them one last time. "Bring it". And so Franz does. There's a little bit of fighting back, but eventually the Aryan Brawler has Terrance in his command. This little toe-rag. The one who escaped his family even after they fixed his broken nose, didn't even repay the damn favor, made Adam Fenric incredibly unhappy. Instead it's come to this. Kicking Terrance in the gut, Franz runs into the ropes. Terrance stays in the same position, curled over in agony. Franz comes back, looking to hit his finisher the Scissor Kick but...Terrance has it scouted! He's been through this before, he knows what's coming, so instead of taking it he swipes the leg STILL on the floor and knocks him on his back!

Mark Sanction:
He reverses it! Terrance Ainley reverses what looked like the Scissor Kick there!

Matt Steel:
At least some semblence of a match left in this one!

Mark Sanction:
Fenrics or no, Terrance Ainley carrying on and fighting for his life!

Matt Steel:
Oh God! Oh no look at this!

Mina sends Isabella and the big man to each side of the ring, meaning Terrance is almost completely surrounded. But there's only three of them. Only three sides. One side left to use. Right now, he knows what he wants to do. He's Terrance fucking Ainley and he wants to be the guy who beat the Fenrics. Stepping over to the corner, he gets up onto the top rope one more time. The big man, Isabella and Mina step up onto the apron. The referee tells them to hold off! No way! Don't even come into this ring! That seems to be enough to stop them, as Terrance stands there. He closes his eyes...

Image

The fans go wild, as Terrance- now completely wincing in pain- stops for a few moments.

Mark Sanction:
450 Splash! Terrance Ainley is gonna do it!

Matt Steel:
But why have they stopped?

Mark Sanction:
Oh what are you talking about, the referee told them to stay back!

Matt Steel:
Mark.

Mark Sanction:
Terrance Ainley with a huge 450 splash and that is--

Matt Steel:
Mark, you're not listening to me!

Mark Sanction:
What? What is so bad about a referee stopping an interference, Mark?

Matt Steel:
Mark, I know this is out of character for us but please tell me. You've got a family- admitedly a weird family that we don't really know that well yet- who are five strong and have a leader who not many people have seen the face of. We remark earlier that we've never seen that referee before. We know four of them are out here, and that there's one missing. So here's my question to you, Mark Sanction- if the leader isn't here then why would four of the five Fenrics be listening to the referee?

Mark Sanction:
...Oh no. Nononono, dear lord, no.

Ainley hooks the leg, underarm, so he is looking up at our referee for the match. Looking him square in the eyes as he has been for this entire match, whenever he's spent time dilly-dallying looking at the 'family man', it turns out the referee is the ulitmate family man. The man who made a promise to his father that he'd make wrestling what it should be. The man who Isabella thinks can do anything. Like, oh I don't know...fix the stars. But the referee does not count. He stands watching him. His demeanour has completely changed. Terrance, nose now bleeding since being so delicate after it was broken ages ago, stares up at the referee. His last stand...lying down victorious over the other man's brother. What a way to go out.

Terrance Ainley:
Come on, count it! Come on Adam. Count it.

Adam Fenric stands watching for a few moments. Unblinking. Reserved. Terrance thinks he has him. But instead, Adam simply stands there and raises his hand to the big guy of the family, still on the apron, with the confidence to turn his back on Terrance as a fresh new challenge comes in and peels Ainley from Franz. Terrance does his best, but to be honest there's only so good his best can be after ten minutes of getting the shit kicked out of him by Franz Fenric, and that's not a lot. The big guy runs Terrance into the corner and mercilessly starts raining punches and punches and punches all over his body.

DING DING DING DING!

The bell rings urgently in order to try and stop what is essentially a vicious attack on a man who's not got the strength to fight back. He won, in his mind. But he is the Cautionary Tale. Adam beckons the rest of his family into the ring, as they stand in the opposite corner, watching. Mina runs over to Franz, now recovering. Adam looks over to her, and she knows. The instruction is clear. Franz is pulled back up...and told to go and join his brother. So he does. Franz and his brother- Solomon Fenric- absolutely viciously destroy Terrance Ainley in the corner. Where his brother punches, Franz kicks. Regardless of whether anyone is aware of the history of Terrance Ainley, the man who failed to beat the Fenrics, they know they're seeing something seriously horrifying.

Mark Sanction:
Someone stop this! Someone stop this from happening.

Matt Steel:
Uh...well, you first, Mark! I don't think anyone wants to get in there with what's happening. I think these guys could handle themselves.

After several minutes, Adam raises his hand again. Mina whistles, and the Aryans retreat. Following the amount of punches and kicks and cuts created from coming into rough contact with the side of Franz' boot, Terrance is now bleeding profusely from the nose and various cuts around his head. It's truly a disturbing and tragic sight to see him, trying to crawl from one side of the ring towards them. He's got fight left in him for some reason...and you're about to wish he didn't.

Mark Sanction:
No, Terrance. Please don't do this.

Matt Steel:
I think it's Adam Fenric you're gonna have to tell that to.

Mark Sanction:
I cannot believe that he was right under our nose the whole time. Only Terrance knew, but by the time we did it was too late for him. He wanted to beat them first.

Matt Steel:
Pride is the killer of professional wrestlers, Mark.

Adam, by this point, has been given a mic. Pulling his referee shirt off, the man they call the Plague Doctor steps forwards. Being handed his clear protective mask by his sister Mina he displays a rather cheerful demeanor as he puts it on.

Mark Sanction:
Why is he putting that on?

Matt Steel:
God knows. Why do people call him the Plague Doctor? We've only met him just met him...there are bound to be things we don't know yet.

His calm Austrian accent leads the first words we will ever hear from him...

Adam Fenric:
Hello Terrance...looking well. Considering.

Terrance slowly steps to his feet, blood pouring down him and his balance depleting. Adam looks him up and down.

Adam Fenric:
You know, the problem we face is--

BANG.

The only black-haired child of Aldus Fenric blasts Terrance in the face with his microphone, knocking him to the ground as the boos begin. Adam grabs both of Terrance's arms, placing them under his own, flipping himself over and locks Terrance Ainley into one of the worst submissions in existence, one that Adam Fenric refers to as "Comfortably Numb".

Image

As Terrance screams in pain, Adam Fenric cranks that hold on as hard as he can, relishing in the suffering he is creating for a man he feels deserve it. Terrance was the man who thought he could stop him before it even started, but now not even he could do it. He realises this. He's the man who came closer than anyone will ever come...and he's fading. He's never felt this sensation before. Everything hurts, and yet it doesn't. He hurts so much that he doesn't. His leg shakes, but he didn't do it. He didn't set out to shake his leg. His nerves are just so...nervous. Enough now. It's all going dark. They should really pay...for better...lightssss.....

Mark Sanction:
Terrance...has passed out, ladies and gentlemen. Adam Fenric with that nasty submission hold locke on him. He's passed out, someone needs to go check on him.

Matt Steel:
Not it. Absolutely not.

Adam stands back up, holding Terrance to us. The booing has begun, and Adam closes his eyes to hear it. How absolutely, completely hilarious. Smiling, his Aryan family stands around him, as Adam grabs his mic again.

Adam Fenric:
Hello friends. My name is Adam Fenric. You won't see this ever man again...but you'll be seeing us.

As "Reise, Reise" plays out once again, the Fenrics, lead by Adam, leave the ring. Of course, Terrance doesn't leave with them- he leaves him for the paramedics because Adam Fenric does not work for free. Isabella skips along beside Adam, and he grabs her hand as they turn around one last time. Paramedics run to the scene, there is blood everywhere. It's actually disqusting to look at, so much that the fans in attendance would rather look at the Fenrics depart as a means of ignoring the horrible creation in the ring where Terrance Ainley used to be able to wrestle in.

Mark Sanction:
Good lord what was that?

Matt Steel:
Bad news is what that was. That was a fresh young star making his debut bringing his A-game in our opening match, and now his career is probably over. All in the space of about fifteen minutes. They took us all by surprise, but just when Catastrophe and the Survivors were antagonising the XWA, the Fenrics have arrived and if the rest of the show becomes a variation on this theme then we're in for a hell of a night, and it doesn't look too good...
