Joey Miles vs. Kaida Kagome ©

In early 2018, Kaida made her debut with the XWA by accepting an open challenge held by Joey Miles. She was successful in her debut, despite having to work harder than she expected for the win. An unlikely friendship ended up beginning between the two, when Kaida could see the potential Joey had and wanted to help him bring that out. Together, the two made big waves and won the Tag Team Championships in their first match teaming up. Everything seemed to be going their way; they had become as close as can be, while they made their climb to the top of the XWA totem. And then, in the middle of celebrating a big win over Jerod Barnez and Ace Acid, the unthinkable happened. Joey not only turned his back on Kaida, he beat her to a bloody pulp and left her unconscious, with several severe injuries. After that, Joey revealed his family ties to one Bloody Mary - now known to be his sister, Alicia Miles - and the two looked to dominate XWA. 2019 was shaping up to be a big year for Joey when he won the Television Championship and started racking up big win after big win, but then he was eliminated in the first round of the Lord of the Ring tournament by the eventually winner, Frank Lawson. Following this, several months of anger and hatred with Sean Young boiled over into Sean defeating Joey. Then, finally, she showed her face again for the first time in a year. Kaida was back and she wanted Joey. She certainly had to earn her way into facing him, however. New company owner Dean Richardson refused to let the two near each other as long as Kaida wasn't under contract, but he gave her a chance to become so with a match against Troy Spencer; a match that was meant to happen last year, before Joey's attack ended that. Kaida was able to persevere and defeat Troy, becoming the Omega Champion in the process of earning a contract, and then she had one last loose-end to tie up in Junichi Sasaki. With that out of the way, the stage was set for Legends XXI; the two would face off for the first time since Kaida's debut. Per the rules of the Omega Championship, Joey got to choose the stipulation and he decided to pick three; a singles match, a submission match and, in the event a tiebreaker is needed, a street fight. Now, Joey looks to finally squash the Kaida chapter of his life, while Kaida herself wants to knock some - or a lot of - sense into her former partner and best friend. Meanwhile, Joey's sister Alicia lurks close.

Re: XWA Legends XXI: Kaida Kagome © vs. Joey Miles | XWA Omega Championship

Postby Rufus » Sat Jan 16, 2021 5:04 pm

We return to a wide shot of the packed Old Trafford stadium in Manchester as the fans find themselves reeling after the pre-match video package had recapped the tumultuous history shared between Kaida Kagome and Joey Miles. After a few moments of nothingness, the lights in the stadium go out. Before long, “Hibiki” by Saori Yoshida is performed by a band of Japanese musicians on the right side of the stage, creating an almost whimsical atmosphere in the stadium. After a few brief shots of the musicians performing the piece, many, many Noh dancers begin to make their way through the curtains and down the very long ramp, creating a sight to behold as they move to the music. The group of dancers appears to be comprised of women if we go by their Onna-kei masks covering their faces, the windy weather causing their Noh Shozoku robes to flow behind them as they make their way down the ramp. Several shots of the sky reveal a stream of cherry blossom petals descending down onto the entire stadium as the fans find themselves in complete awe of the atmosphere. But just as everyone begins to settle into the beautiful display, the whimsical music suddenly shifts as the spotlights in the stadium highlight a row of men dressed in traditional Japanese garbs standing behind taiko drums. The Noh dancers form two very long lines on opposite sides of the ramp before kneeling as everyone’s attention is now firmly on the drummers as they hammer away on the taiko drums. After about twenty seconds, another set of spotlights reveal more men opposite the drummers as they begin to clap along to the drums, causing many of the fans in attendance to join them. Everyone seems to forget that they’re at a wrestling show, fully immersed by the elaborate, almost theatrical performance.

MARK SANCTION
“I mean, all you can say is “wow”. This is quite the atmosphere, Matt.”

MATT STEEL
“Tell me about it.”

With approx. 32 seconds remaining for the band to perform, the music begins to crescendo as the background violins are introduced, signalling the two rows of dancers on the ramp to prepare for the end of the performance. After several shots of the immersed packed crowd in the Old Trafford stadium, the sound of a gong echoes as the dancers quickly kneel, bringing the performance to an end. Before the echo of the gong fully fades, however, it is quickly drowned out by a rousing round of applause from the fans. This continues for around ten seconds, before the sound of a Shakuhachi flute causes the applause to die down. As enchanted as they are, this is the moment they ask… “where’s Kaida?”. She’s nearby.
As the Biwa strings kick in, accompanied by Japanese vocals in the background while the music crescendos once more, the arena’s spotlights reveal a whole other crew of musicians on the left side of the stage as the music transitions from traditional to more of a modern rock sound. We cut to a wide shot from the base of the ramp, revealing to us that one of the dancers had moved to the middle of the ramp, breaking away from her row. She slowly rises before suddenly tearing her robes off, sending them flying in the air as they are guided towards the fans by the wind. The screen cuts back to the woman, revealing the XWA Omega Championship around her waist, her brand new wrestling gear acting as the cherry on top. The traditional rendition of “Receive You” is accompanied by the deafening cheers from the fans as she rips the Onna-Kei mask off, the camera zooming in on the now-revealed face of Kaida Kagome.

MARK SANCTION
“Here she is!!! Listen to this place!!!”

And whether you like it or not, you can’t help but listen to the deafening, electric reaction from the fans. The XWA Omega Champion hears it too as she cannot help but smile, despite the war that awaits her upon her challenger’s arrival. But for now, this is Kaida’s moment. A moment she’s worked for since her debut in 2018 against the very same man she’s set to defend her title against tonight. Despite being booked in a match against the then-newly returned Razor Xtreme, the match never came to be, and one of the biggest breakout stars of the year ended up missing Legends. Then, in 2019, after winning her first title with the same man she’ll be facing tonight, a mere two months before Legends, her career was all but over after his betrayal. Tonight, in her very first appearance on the biggest show the XWA has to offer, everything will come full circle. Knowing all of this, Kaida begins to walk down the lengthy ramp with purpose, not rushing at all, taking in the moment as she looks around, blown away by the packed stadium. As the cherry blossom petals continue to be streamed down onto the stadium, nearing the end of the ramp, Kaida picks up some steam as she runs towards the ring before rolling in, the cheering intensifying as the champion finds herself in the center of the ring, showered with love she never expected to get from the XWA faithful. Motivated by it, Kaida ascends to the top of one of the turnbuckles in the corner before taking a moment to just… look at the endless rows of fans in the stadium. She spots several signs supporting her, many fans cheering her on and others applauding, happy to see just how far she’s come since her debut. After climbing every other corner of the ring to address her fans, Kaida finally makes her way to the center of the ring as a bright spotlight shines down on her. Before long, Kaida rips the leather vest off her body and tosses it away as the camera slowly pans up the Dragon on her back, the Dragon she’s claimed has finally come alive in the past few months since her return.

MATT STEEL
“The Dragon has arrived. God, I can’t wait for this match to start.”

MARK SANCTION
“You won’t have to wait much longer, Matt.”

The lights in the stadium are turned back on as loud “Ka-i-da!” chants deafen us, forcing another smile to form on the face of the Matriarch. The camera slowly pans out as the champion stands in the middle of the ring, filled with appreciation for the people in the crowd for backing her as hard as they currently are. Before much longer, the lights in the stadium are turned back off as we prepare for the challenger to make his entrance. Nothing happens for a good fifteen seconds as we linger in the dark, until…
As Siouxsie Soux’s sampled vocals blast through the PA system in the stadium, the fans brace themselves for Joey Miles’ arrival. What happens, next, however, brings everyone to their feet. A single spotlight shines down, aimed at the middle of the stage to reveal none other than The Weeknd, here in the flesh to perform Joey Miles’ entrance. But instead of the usual “Glass Table Girls” that follows Siouxsie’s iconic vocals, the instrumental for “House of Balloons” begins playing as the “mini-tron” that’s not so “mini”, stretching across the entire stage, begins to display some footage that catches Kaida, as well as every fan in the stadium, off-guard. The footage, displayed in black and white behind The Weeknd, reveals never-before-seen interactions between Joey Miles and Kaida Kagome. The text “JANUARY 2019” appears over the footage for a brief moment, revealing an intimate handshake exchanged between the members of the newly-formed Fighting Gold tag team in the backstage area prior to their tag team titles match.

THE WEEKND
♫Been on another level… since you came, no more pain♫

Highlights of Joey Miles’ intense offense against the team of Angelica Vaughn and Sarah Lacklan play on the tron as Kaida stands in the middle of the ring, watching.

THE WEEKND
♫You look into my eyes, you can’t recognize my face♫

Several shots of Joey’s face smiling as he looks at the crowd, who had begun to embrace both him and Kaida as a team, flash on the tron.

THE WEEKND
♫You’re in my world now, you can stay… you can stay♫

We cut to Kaida nodding in approval at Joey as they are crowned the XWA Tag Team Champions.

THE WEEKND
♫But you belong to me… oooh…. you belong to me♫

Joey and Kaida embrace backstage before posing for a photo as it’s taken by Junichi Sasaki. The moment they became more than tag team champions, more than mere tag team partners.

THE WEEKND
♫If it hurts to breathe, open a window… oh your mind wants to leave, but you can’t go♫

Footage of Fighting Gold being attacked by Shade and Samael displays on the tron, reminding everyone of the lengths Kaida and Joey would go through to protect each other during these moments of hardships.

THE WEEKND
♫This is… a happy house… we’re happy here… in a happy house♫

Several highlights of Kaida and Joey making their entrance as a team play, including iconic moments such as Joey firing his t-shirt cannon at the fans, are displayed behind Abel.

♫(Oh this is fun, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun)♫
♫(FUUUUN!)♫

Several key moments from the Fighting Gold vs. Jerod Barnez & Ace Acid match are displayed on the tron, many of them being the moments where Joey Miles interjected to rescue Kaida from a double team maneuver, finally ending with Miles forcing Jerod Barnez to submit. Finally, we get to the moment. Kaida raises Joey’s arm atop the stage as they end the final Massacre of 2019 as the winners, until…

♫WHOAH! (WHOAH-OH-OH-OH-OHHH!)♫
Several flashes of crowd signs mocking the “commentator-turned wrestler” appear on the tron, accompanied by quick flashes of Joey falling short of becoming the Supreme Champion at No Man’s Land in 2018, the very next match he had after losing to Kaida Kagome in her debut.

THE WEEKND
♫The music got you lo-o-ost… nights pass so much quicker than the days did, same clothes, you ain’t ready for your day shift♫

The sole of Joey’s boot slams against the side of Kaida’s head before she hits the ground. We cut to a shot of Kaida’s confused and heartbroken face before the flashes of Joey’s brutal assault follow.

THE WEEKND
♫This place will burn you u-u-up… baby it’s okay, them my n***** next door, they be workin’ in the trap, so get naughty if you want♫

The flashes of Joey’s betrayal send chills down everyone’s spines. The steel chair smashed across Kaida’s back, the cuts and bruises inflicted by Joey using Kaida’s own weapons against her, the moment he used her own finisher, the Shining Dragon, against her.

THE WEEKND
♫So don’t blame it on me… that you didn’t call your home… oh! Just don’t blame it on me, girl! ‘Cause you wanted to have fun♫

Shots of Kaida smiling at her partner and best friend then fade into the disturbing visual of Kaida trapped in a steel chair as Joey locks in the Strappado Octopus Hold while his former partner loses consciousness. We then transition into the shot of Kaida’s lifeless body lying in the middle of the ring as Joey Miles walks away, before the footage fades to a black background, the words “Joey will pay for what he’s done” displayed over it in white text.

THE WEEKND
♫If it hurts to breathe, open a window♫

We fast forward to 2019. A shot of a red-faced Joey Miles shedding tears of anger during his emotional rant after Kaida’s return fills the tron, before we cut to a black screen with the words “I have been paying my entire fucking life” displayed over it.

THE WEEKND
♫Oh your mind wants to leave, but you can’t go♫

We cut to a shot of Kaida Kagome standing up in the crowd, before flashing forward to the moment the XWA security detained both her and Joey Miles, preventing a possible fight to the death. Finally, we get the last line of words to display on the tron behind Abel.
“Try to end my fucking life”

THE WEEKND
♫This is… a happy house… we’re happy here… in a happy house♫

The screen cuts away from the mini-tron to Kaida Kagome standing in the ring, a close-up of her face revealing several tears streaming down her cheeks.

♫(Oh this is fun)♫
We cut back to the view from the crane set-up next to the stage as Alicia Miles walks through the curtains before standing next to Abel, sharing the spotlight with him.

THE WEEKND
♫THIS IS FUN! THIS IS FUN TO ME!♫
♫(Fun, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun)♫
♫(FUUUUN!)♫

The screen cuts to the view from the cameraman at ringside behind Kaida Kagome, revealing her clenched fists as she stands stoically in the middle of the ring, her eyes no doubt piercing through Alicia Miles atop the stage. The woman Kaida has pointed the finger at then slowly tilts her masked head, acknowledging Kaida’s gaze in her own twisted way.
As “House of Balloons” ends, a live rendition of “Glass Table Girls” begins as Joey Miles finally arrives. With the beat of his theme kicking in, Miles walks backwards through the curtains, his arms spread out before stopping in the middle of the spotlight, flanked by Alicia Miles and The Weeknd.

THE WEEKND
♫BRING THE SEVEN-OH-SEVEN OUT♫

On their feet, the fans cannot help but cheer and applaud as loudly as they possibly can. The challenger slowly lowers his arms as he turns around, stopping for a bit to take in the atmosphere as his eyes find Kaida in the middle of the ring. As Abel begins to perform the first verse of the song, he, along with Joey and Alicia Miles begin to make their way down the ramp. Miles’ eyes do not divert from Kagome despite the electric atmosphere caused by the fans’ reaction to his entrance.

MARK SANCTION
“I’m speechless. I… I don’t know what to say, Matt.”

MATT STEEL
“I don't think anyone can put it into words, Mark. I'm right there with ya.”

Upon reaching the ringside area, Joey Miles stops as he continues to engage in a staredown with his partner. Before long, The Weeknd, still performing the entrance theme, gives Joey Miles a couple of pats on the back as he stays behind. Joey and Alicia begin to walk over to the steel steps in the corner before the challenger climbs them, making his way up to the apron. Alicia follows him up the steps as he enters the ring before finally breaking away from Kaida as he climbs one of the corners. The reaction from the fans is mixed, albeit more positive than negative. Despite the way they feel about him, they cannot help but feel excited thanks to the live performance from Abel and the fact that they are minutes away at most from seeing the match they’ve been waiting over a year for. Joey, however, prevents himself from getting too caught up in the moment and potentially distracting him from his purpose tonight. After stepping back down to the ring, Joey removes his hoodie before tossing it out of the ring, and as The Weeknd’s live rendition of “Glass Table Girls” comes to a close, the lights in the stadium are turned back on before an explosive round of applause from the fans sends chills down Joey Miles’ spine.

Re: XWA Legends XXI: Kaida Kagome © vs. Joey Miles | XWA Omega Championship

Postby Gopher » Tue Jan 19, 2021 7:15 pm

The Weeknd makes his way to the back, following the performance, as Hana Ramierez enters. XWA official Jack Tickles makes sure Kaida and the Miles siblings are on opposite corners of the ring before allowing Hana center stage.

Hana Ramierez: ”This following match is Three Stages of Hell and it is for the XWA Omega Championship!”

The fans continue to cheer ecstatically.

Hana Ramierez: ”This match will be contested with two out of three falls. The first fall will be a standard singles match. The second fall will be a submission match. The third fall, if it comes to that, will be a street fight.”

The idea of a street fight ending things just makes the fans cheer more.

Hana Ramierez: ”Introducing first, the challenger; being accompanied by his sister Alicia Miles, he is from Miami, Florida and he is weighing in tonight at two hundred and twenty-eight pounds. He is a former World Television Champion, Tag Team Champion and a six-time Piledriver Award winner, ‘One-Eighty’, Jo—“

Hana stops as Joey steps up to her and whispers something in her ear. He then backs up and lets her proceed.

Hana Ramierez: ”He is ‘No Soul, No Dignity’, Joey Miles!”

The fans let out a heavily mixed reaction, especially at Joey’s new nickname which is, of course, a reference to the contract signing for this match, where Kaida said that Joey lost his soul and his dignity when he attacked her in 2018, to which he replied, “Fuck my soul and my dignity”. Joey foregoes posing after his introduction and instead keeps his sights set firmly on Kaida.

Hana Ramierez: ”And his opponent, the defending champion; she is from Osaka, Japan and she is weighing in tonight at one hundred and thirty-seven pounds. She is a former Tag Team Champion, a five-time Piledriver Award winner and the reigning XWA Omega Champion, ‘Gokudo’, Kaida Kagome!”

Despite her focus being set on Joey and wanting to keep it that way, Kaida can’t help but crack a smile when she hears the ecstatic response to her name from the fans all around the packed Old Trafford Stadium. One of her five Piledriver Awards was for Villain of the Year, and yet, here she stands, on the biggest stage in XWA, with cheers filling up an entire arena for her. She’s come so far. But tonight isn’t about that. It’s not about her rise in stardom, it’s about getting back the brother she lost. And right now, he’s staring across the ring from her, next to his silent, masked sister. Kaida’s smile fades as Hana exits the ring and her focus is brought back to Joey. Alicia pats her brother on the shoulder and exits the ring. Jack asks both competitors if they’re ready to go and, while not darting their eyes away from one another, the two simply nod. Jack calls for the bell.

DING! DING! DING!

Despite the bell ringing and Jack backing out of the way, neither Kaida nor Joey are quick to move. It’s been over a year in the making and the time is finally here, but neither can bring themselves to attempt the first strike. Their eyes stay fixated on each other, as the fans cheer on the stare down, ready for this to finally happen. Finally, Kaida begins moving, as she slowly steps towards Joey. He returns, doing the same, and the two meet in the center of the ring, still just staring one another down. Some words are exchanged, but they aren’t picked up by the camera. Kaida began speaking first, talking softly, as her eyes showcase just how conflicted she is with this whole situation. A similar look is in the eyes of Joey as he responds and then he takes a deep breath. Finally, the action begins, as Joey lashes out with a stiff punch to Kaida’s face, and she returns with a punch of her own. Just as the fans were starting to quiet down due to the lack of action, the cheers pile right back up as the two go at it, exchanging punches with furious speed!

Mark Sanction: ”And we’re off!”

Matt Steel: ”Here we go, let’s watch a fight!”

Eventually, Kaida takes the upper hand as her strikes come just enough quicker, allowing her to get in multiple uninterrupted hits. She starts peppering her strikes with kicks and chops, as Joey starts to get backed towards the ropes. He tries to cover up, but it’s not helping much, as Kagome unleashes a flurry of hard hitting strikes until Joey’s back is finally pressed against the ropes. At this point, Jack steps in, telling Kaida to let him out of the ropes and she begrudgingly takes a step back. Joey, however, isn’t quite as honorable, as he uses the moment to quickly jab a thumb into Kaida’s eye. ‘Gokudo’ lets out an angry yell as she covers her eye, but Joey continues with leg sweep takedown that knocks Kaida onto her backside. She quickly sits up, but all this does is put her in position for a nasty knee strike to the face courtesy of her former tag team partner. With Kaida momentarily stunned, Joey motions towards Alicia on the outside and she quickly looks under the ring, in a very specific spot, before pulling out the traditional Mirage weapon; a baseball bat covered with barbed wire! The audience lets out a mixed reaction, some cheering the potential for this thing to get hardcore and others booing the bad plans Joey clearly has for Kaida, as Alicia slides the bat into the ring.

Mark Sanction: ”Oh no, what the hell?! Alicia’s giving Joey that damn bat! No, the referee’s gotta stop this!”

Matt Steel: ”Joey’s obviously going to get disqualified from the first fall if he uses that, but something tells me he’s alright with that.”

Joey picks up the bat and takes a moment to study it, as Kaida is getting back to her feet. Jack demands Joey get rid of the weapon, but Miles threatens to hit the referee with it, something even XWA’s top official wants no part of. Joey grabs a hold of the bat with both hands as Kaida reaches her feet, facing away from him. He raises the bat into the air and shoves it forward, jabbing the end of the bat – and the associated barbed wire – into the back of Kaida’s head with authority! The mixed reaction starts to become one-sided against Joey, as Kaida drops to the canvas, but Joey doesn’t stop there. Jack calls for the bell as Miles begins mercilessly attacking Kaida all over her back with the bat, forcing the barbed wire to create numerous cuts, as blood begins to soak Kaida, her top and the canvas.

DING! DING! DING!

Hana Ramierez: ”Kaida Kagome has taken the first fall by way of disqualification! The score is now one to zero in Kaida’s favor and the match moves onto the submission stage!”

Mark Sanction: ”There’s the disqualification and surprise, surprise, the bastard doesn’t care! Stop him, Jack!”

Matt Steel: ”He already disqualified him from the first fall, Mark. Up next is a submission match and, I don’t know if you know this one buddy, but those don’t have disqualification.”

Mark Sanction: ”This is such horse shit! Jack needs to do something about this!”

Jack does try to put a stop to the onslaught, but as soon as he gets in Joey’s way, Miles pushes him back and then aims the bat at him. ”Back the fuck off!” he yells, ”I’ll make her tap when I’m ready!” Reminding the official that they’re now in a submission match and he’s free to do whatever he wants with that bat, Joey then turns back to Kaida and sees her struggling to get back up. He swings the bat down on her back again, causing a grunt of agony from his former partner. Instead of pulling it back up, this time he grinds the bat along her skin, back and forth, causing the barbed wire to open wider cuts and forcing a more audible scream from Kaida, who tries unsuccessfully to grit her teeth and stay quiet.

Finally, Miles pulls the bat away from her back and then jams the end into the back of her head once more, with force, before he finally tosses the bat to the canvas. Jack steps in again at this point to ask Kaida if she’s able to continue. Joey allows her the opportunity to give up now, but the matriarch of the Kagome family has other plans in mind. Hurting and with blood dripping from her back and the back of her head, Kaida forces herself to all fours and then keeps forcing herself to get back up to her feet, shaking in the process as her body just wants to shut down. Once she’s nearly standing, Jack asks her again if she can continue, and this time she barks at him,
”Dekimasu!” Refusing to give in, Kaida stands upright and puts her hands up towards Joey, before motioning for him to come at her. For a brief second, it looks like Joey tries to hide a smile. Not an arrogant smile or a malicious one, but a proud smile.

Mark Sanction: ”Kaida’s not going down that easily! And, for most, that sure as hell wouldn’t qualify as easy!”

Matt Steel: ”Hey, more beating for her, I guess.”

Jack, unsure if he should allow this to continue, knows the crowd will be very upset if he ends things now after Kaida told him not to, so he shrugs and waves for them to continue. Kaida’s brave stance doesn’t do enough to help her physically damaged body, however, and Joey rushes in quickly for the kill. He drills her with a knee strike to the stomach before she could even think. This kneels her over and Joey is quick to take advantage. He jumps on top of Kaida and starts entwining body parts until he finally gets it applied; his Octopus Hold known as the 2019 Finisher of the Year, the Strappado! The fans jeer, but Kaida tries to fight out of it. However, once she begins squirming, Joey just adds to the brutality of the move. He pulls both of her arms back as far as he can and then swings his right arm around them, placing them under his armpit and facing a lot of extra pressure to her arms. Then, he raises his dangling foot up and presses it against the back of Kaida’s head, where there are still fresh wounds from the barbed wire-covered bat. Then, to make matters even worse, he begins raising and dropping that foot, stomping on the back of Kaida’s head repeatedly! Knowing that there’s still one fall left and the longer she’s in this, the less likely she’ll be able to do anything in that final round, Kaida taps her hands together by Joey’s armpit to let the official know she submits. Jack calls for the bell and then quickly jumps in to force Joey to break the hold.

DING! DING! DING!

Hana Ramierez: ”Joey Miles has taken the second fall by way of submission! The score is now tied one to one and the match goes to a Street Fight as the tiebreaker!”

Mark Sanction: ”This is disgusting! Absolutely disgusting!”

Matt Steel: ”Call it what you will, Sanction, but this thing is now tied and Joey’s looking a hell of a lot better than Kaida heading into the tiebreaker.”

Mark Sanction: ”I should’ve known him and his damn sister would pull something like this, Goddamnit!”

Joey relinquishes the hold and lets Kaida fall to the canvas, as he soaks in the boos, now coming at him in full force.

[This portion and the entrances posted by Rufus are both canon for the match. The deciding fall will be two separate posts and that will be what this match is graded on. Good luck, Rufus!)
