On one side of the ring stands two long-time partners and best friends. On the other side stands two Supreme Champions; one of the past, one in the present.
Mark Sanction: “Now this is a surprise, Tempest. Here we have Mark Storey starting a match cleanly! No sneak attacks, no distractions! He is standing on one side of the ring, with Danny Diamond, whilst JHalc and David Michaels stand separated on the other side! I’m shocked!”
Tempest: “That’s right! I think this is part of what Danny said earlier getting to Mark. The old Mark was never exempt from cheating when he needed, or wanted to, but it was never to the extent as his XWA Supreme Championship match. I know you’re not a fan of the fact that Mark IS our new champion.”
Mark Sanction: “Obviously not Tempest. But! What’s done is done and I can move on with the comfort that Mark is not only a walking target, but the fact that he has the eyes of seemingly every member of the roster on him.”
Tempest: “You may take some comfort in that Sanction but I would be worried that Mark leant into all of the cheating that he did because the XWA Supreme Championship was the one title that had alluded him here in XWA for quite some time, and now that he’s achieved it, I would not be surprised if he is more ruthless than ever.”
XWA official Tommy Tickles checks on both sides to make sure they’ve decided on who will start and then the bell is called for.
DING! DING! DING!
Despite Tempest’s intriguing view of Mark’s current situation, the new XWA Supreme Champion opts to let Danny Diamond start this match, after a brief discussion with his partner, then exiting the ring. Taking umbrage with this, David Michaels volunteers himself to start the match for the JnM Club by virtue of stomping across the ring and demanding that Mark start the bout with him. Unimpressed, Mark leans on the top rope and motions with his hand for David to step back. “The Showstealer” becomes fired up, almost irate, which only beckons the crowd to get on his side and rile him up. With David distracting himself and Mark comfortably on the ring apron, “The Prized Gem” decides to get the match started and steps toward Michaels, driving his bicep into the chin of the Manchurian, sending him staggering backwards with a huge European uppercut! Nearing the centre of the ring, Michaels finds himself on the receiving end of another European uppercut that only makes him stumble backwards even more. He is given little time to himself as Danny approaches and grabs his arms and pushes him backwards towards the ropes. Meeting the ropes, he leans into Michaels, bending the ropes, using the tension to his advantage. A slap is heard then Danny releases his hold, launching Michaels forwards, sending him running towards the other side of the ring! Our official recognises the slap as a sanctioned tag from JHalc, who instead of entering, side-steps more towards the centre of his side on the ring, still on the apron.
Meanwhile inside the ring, Michaels rebounds off of the opposite ropes and runs towards Diamond who is dashing towards him, only to stop just short of colliding to jump into the air, turn feet-first and plant his soles on Michael’s chest with a dropkick! Some of those in attendance boo whilst Danny kneels and pushes himself to a stance, his attention grabbed by an inaudible yell from behind him. As Danny turns, so does the fan’s reactions, who realise that JHalc is now the legal man, as they watch “The Jack of Hearts” pull back on the top rope to springboard himself up and into the ring, flying at Danny with explosive force! JHalc introduces himself to the match, and Danny’s face, with a rock solid Springboard Flying Forearm Smash! Falling backwards, Diamond goes back-first into the ropes, but completely falls through, tumbling backside-first to the apron and then down to the floor below, as Michaels’ inadvertently pulled down the ropes as he was trying to exit the ring himself! The crowd cheer at the unexpectant happening whilst Michaels, doubled over the middle rope looks back at a now kneeling JHalc, then up at Storey who is watching intently. This moment of stillness is broken as Michaels rushes to exit the ring and stomp on Diamond, as Mark pulls himself around the turnbuckle pole and jumps down to Diamonds rescue!
Mark Sanction: “Whoa! I wasn’t expecting that! Diamond crashed and burned!”
Tempest: “A bit of inadvertent teamwork for the JnM Club there, but I’m sure they’ll take it.”
Storey interjects as quickly as he can, pushing Michaels firmly on the chest, forcing him to step backwards from Danny. Not one to be pushed around, Michaels returns the favour and shoves Mark even harder on the chest. On the floor, Danny moves forward allowing the other two men to meet in the middle and square up to one another, grinding their foreheads together. Immediately you can sense the crowd want to see this match, the confrontation between “The Showstealer” and “The Natural”. Joining in of the festivities, Danny Diamond stands and tries to pull back Storey, reminding him that the referee has in fact, started counting. THREE! This doesn’t deter Mark, nor David, who go right back at it, shouting expletives at one another despite being mere centimetres apart, with Diamond caught right in the middle. FOUR! The referee’s count and also the men involved in this scuffle, as the crowd’s attention is taken upward to the sky just in time to see JHalc pull back on the ropes once more and send himself up and over the ropes, falling down and crashing on top of the other competitors with a Springboard Crossbody! The crowd chant for the JnM Club as both teams lay on the floor. JHalc is the first to his feet, bringing his partner with him, a worthy sacrifice for catching both Mark and Danny with a high-risk manoeuvre. The referee restarts the count in the meantime, ONE!
Tempest: “He took out his own partner! But I think David will forgive him for that one Sanction.”
Mark Sanction: “Anything that results in Mark and Danny being knocked off their pedestal is fine with me, so I’m sure Michaels will be fine with it too.”
At a count of THREE, JHalc has returned Michaels to his corner and re-entered the ring, whilst Danny Diamond has only started picking Mark back up to his feet. Danny helps Mark towards their corner and leans him over the steel steps. He leaves Mark there and then ducks under the bottom rope to rejoin the match, being the legal man, stopping the referee’s count. Before he can get to his feet after re-entering the ring, the Jet City resident rushes over and stomps on the back of Danny’s head! Soon Danny finds himself on the receiving end of a number of stomps, forcing him into the corner at the bottom turnbuckle. With JHalc taking any opening he can get, Danny is unable to defend himself, but luckily Mark looks toward the ring and sees this. Instead of climbing up onto the apron to tag in, Mark presses his chest against the ring apron and then swipes at JHalc’s feet, latching onto one before he can stomp on Danny again. Gaining his attention, JHalc turns towards the ropes, which allows Mark to grab the other foot and pull forward, throwing JHalc off-balance and sends him ass-first to the mat!
Storey then pulls back on JHalc’s legs and slides him towards the ropes so that his chest hits against them. JHalc, thinking he’s outsmarted Mark’s attempt to pull him out of the ring, laughs and taps the side of his head, but the champion seems unphased. A confusing reaction until Danny makes his presence felt, literally, when he drives his boot into the side of JHalc’s head! Knocked to the left, JHalc tries to steady himself and sit up, resulting in another boot to the head as Mark starts to laugh. “The Idol” then climbs up onto the apron and bends over the top rope, slapping Danny’s hand for the tag, who drives his heel down into the side of JHalc’s head once more before shimmying under the bottom rope to get some recovery time. Meanwhile Mark ends under the top rope and clambers into the ring, falling to his knees immediately and covering JHalc, pulling both legs away from the ropes, folding JHalc up, turning him so that Mark can look into Michaels eyes at the same time. He smirks as the official slides into place, ONE! TWO-To no one’s surprise, JHalc kicks out, but it is just after a second count, which fills Mark with a little more confidence.
Mark Sanction: “Surely this is too early to gain a victory.”
Tempest: “I’m not convinced this is Mark trying to win, but rather send a message to Michaels, since JHalc is literally the furthest he can be from David, whilst still being in the ring.”
Mark keeps his eyes planted on David momentarily, smirking as he pulls JHalc back to his feet. He turns his focus back to the opponent at hand and lands several repeated forearm strikes that land flush on the cheekbone of the Jet City native. The Supreme Champion pulls JHalc into the center of the ring and latches onto his wrist. He pulls him into what appears to be an Irish whip aimed at The JnM Club’s own corner, but while David reaches out for a tag, his partner is abruptly pulled back in by Mark, who receives him with a knee to the midsection. The champion laughs at Michaels’ attempt to tag in, after intentionally keeping the ‘Jack of Hearts’ out of his reach, which further agitates David, but there’s not much he can do about it right now. Storey continues working on his opponent as he hits JHalc with several closed fist punches to the side of his head. By this point, Diamond has made it back to his feet on the apron and he calls out for Mark. Storey backs JHalc up into Undeniable’s corner and tags in Danny.
The Englishman enters the ring and there’s a brief verbal communication between the partners before he grabs JHalc, gets behind him and takes a few steps away from the corner. Danny lifts JHalc’s lower body up in a wheelbarrow style while Mark lifts his upper end and applies a Front Facelock. The Supreme Champion drives his opponent down head-first into the canvas with a DDT, while Danny continues to hold onto him. Following this, Mark pushes JHalc up with his feet to give Diamond some momentum to work with and he utilizes that to fling their adversary overhead with a Wheelbarrow Suplex, which ends in a bridged pin attempt while Storey rolls back onto the apron. ONE! TW-But JHalc kicks out at two and a half. Unbothered by the kick out, Danny grabs JHalc by his ankle and drags him back towards Undeniable’s corner, where he tags Storey back in, with the duo clearly looking to keep each other fresh now that the match, and pacing, is in their control.
Tempest: ”Undeniable are wrestling a smart match here, with the constant tags to keep each other fresh and keeping JHalc away from a tag. Isolate and dominate. It’s a common tactic in tag team wrestling and for a very good reason.”
Storey leisurely vaults over the top rope and positions himself on the middle rope from inside the ring, while Danny gets himself into position for what the duo has planned next. He wraps his arms around JHalc’s legs and pushes him just a tad away from the corner to gain a small bit of distance between themselves and Mark. Once the positioning is just right, Danny drops backwards and pulls JHalc with him, causing him to get catapulted up and directly into a leaping knee strike from the middle rope, courtesy of the Supreme Champion! Danny rolls under the bottom rope while JHalc drops following the knee strike landing flush on his jaw, but the duo of former and current Supreme Champions aren’t done with their double team assault yet. As Danny gets back to his feet on the apron, Storey reaches over the top rope and taps him on the shoulder for yet another tag. While Mark begins to set up what’s next in Undeniable’s gameplan, Danny reenters the ring and jogs to the opposing side, although he makes sure not to get close enough to David to be touched.
Storey has the Jet City native bent over, while his arms are crossed over his chest. He lifts JHalc onto his shoulders and takes a step forward before he sends him slamming hard into the turnbuckles with the Detaining Device, a Mark Storey signature brand Straight-Jacket Powerbomb! JHalc doesn’t drop after the move, if only because the ropes and turnbuckles keep him held up against his own will. Storey hurriedly moves out of the way as Danny comes barreling in at full speed. The ‘Prized Gem’ leaps into the air and knocks both of his knees into his opponent’s face, before hastily pulling JHalc away from the ropes, bending him over and applying a double underhook. While Mark gets back on the apron, the former Supreme Champion lifts the opposition upside down and then falls into a sit out, while driving his head straight into the canvas with a Tiger Driver ’98 to finish England’s Finest Combo! The flashy moves garner a little cheers from the audience, but Undeniable undeniably being in the driver’s seat brings more boos. Danny transitions into a pin attempt following the combination. ONE! TWO! TH-This time, Michaels rushes in and breaks the pin attempt up with a rather stiff kick to the side of Danny’s head, which gets a pop from fans, who want to see David get unleashed at this point.
Mark Sanction: ”David has seen enough and he came in to break up the pin. JHalc is taking a beating right now, though. He needs to make a tag, but Undeniable are doing a good job, as you pointed out Tempest, at keeping him away from his corner.”
Tempest: ”Michaels can break up all the pins he wants, but this match won’t end well for them if he can’t get in the ring legally. The Supreme Champion and Danny know that.”
Tommy is quick to force Michaels to get back onto the apron and the ‘Showstealer’ obliges, but not happily. Meanwhile, Diamond gets back to his feet and shakes off the ringing in his ears from that stiff kick. Once he’s good, he taunts David from the center of the ring, as he knows Michaels is getting frustrated and he wants to pile onto that as much as possible. With an arrogant grin plastered on his face, Danny turns his attention back to JHalc, whom he pulls up to a vertical base. The former Supreme Champion lays into JHalc with European Uppercut after European Uppercut, each one backing him up bit-by-bit towards Undeniable’s corner. Once JHalc’s back is pressed against the turnbuckles, Danny tags Mark back in. Following this tag, Storey enters the ring and the two simply stomp into JHalc’s mid-section simultaneously, forcing him further and further into a seated position in the corner. Once Tommy calls for Danny to get out of the ring, he does, but he’s tagged back in just as quickly. As Diamond reenters, Storey pulls JHalc back to his feet and then pushes him up to a seated position on the top turnbuckle. Danny heads just past the center of the ring and Storey gets down on all fours, as they set up for yet another double team maneuver.
This time, Danny uses the champion’s body as a platform to vault off of. He leaps into the air, sending his legs first as he looks for a Hurricanrana to take JHalc off of the top rope, but the Jet City native thinks quickly. He drops off of the top rope and lands on the apron. With nothing there to straddle his legs on while Danny flies upside down, all he’s left with is his middle and lower back hitting the middle and upper turnbuckles and then him dropping straight down to the canvas, although the Englishman luckily manages to turn enough to land on his shoulder, rather than directly on his head. Hurriedly, Mark gets back to his feet and rushes at JHalc – now on the apron – but the ‘Jack of Hearts’ extends a forearm strike over the top rope for his oncoming opponent. This forces Storey to stumble backwards. Once he manages to regain his composure, he isn’t left with much time to move. JHalc springs off of the top rope and flies onto the champion with a beautifully-executed Cross Body! He then uses the momentum from the leap to roll himself over to his team’s corner where he finally makes the tag to David Michaels! Fans burst into cheers, as it’s finally time for a hot Michaels to reenter the match.
Mark Sanction: ”There’s the tag! Michaels is in!”
Tempest: ”And he’s fired up!”
David jumps over the top rope to enter the ring and immediately sets his sights on Diamond, who’s now reaching his feet. The two run at one another, but it’s Danny who takes a Clothesline that drops him. Michaels turns around to see the Supreme Champion rushing in towards him and he eats a Clothesline just like his partner did. Speaking of that partner, Diamond gets back up in the meantime and tries to rush David, but the ‘Sultan of Sexy’ catches him by wrapping his arms around his fellow Englishman’s body. He then sends Danny over-head with a big-time Belly to Belly Suplex! With the fans roaring in approval, David turns and sees Mark once again rushing at him. He ducks under the incoming Clothesline attempt and pops up behind Storey. Michaels spins him around, lands a kick firmly in his mid-section and he leaps into the air to press his leg against the back of the Supreme Champion’s neck and drive him face-first into the canvas with the Fameasser! Storey rolls out of the ring to recover.
Meanwhile, David shoots back to his feet and lets out a loud yell while waving his arms to get the crowd even more hyped up than they already are, to very easy success. Michaels sees Diamond now running at him from the corner of his eyes and he ducks under the attempted running elbow strike. Danny continues running, while David takes off in the opposite direction. The two almost simultaneously rebound off of opposing sets of ropes and then begin a full-speed race towards one another. With similar thoughts in mind, both Englishmen leap into the air. Danny pivots as he attempts a leaping European Uppercut, while David shoots his arm out for a flying forearm strike. In a big car crash collision, both men nail each other with their respective strikes and go crashing onto the canvas! The two are down just a few seconds before both David and Danny kip right back up to their feet at the same time!
Mark Sanction: ”The crowd is electric right now as David comes in to wreck shop, but him and Danny had similar ideas there and they both kipped up!”
Tempest: ”Some have considered this a dream match for years now and we may be about to get an example of why.”
There’s a pause between the two wrestlers, as they both seem a tad surprised the other also kipped up, but that pause is broken up with a very quick shooting of the leg from Michaels, who attempts to land his Superkick finisher, the Shattered Teeth Symphony! Danny’s reflexes are shown as he back-steps just in time to get out of Michaels’ reach, but then, with David closing the gap between them, he attempts his own Superkick finisher, the throat-aimed Sudden Death Superkick! Unable to back away in time, David instead ducks under the attempted similar finisher and he transitions behind the ‘Rubik’s Cube’. Hastily, David puts Diamond in a Full Nelson and drags him back into a Dragon Suplex! As the fans cheer the two close call finisher attempts, David doesn’t release the Full Nelson and instead rolls back to his feet while continuing to hold onto his opponent. Once they’re both standing, Michaels takes Danny down with a second Dragon Suplex, as the ‘Shine’ begins to get shaky. Once more, David doesn’t release his grip and he pivots back up to his feet with Danny. He attempts to finish the Dragon Suplex trifecta, but Diamond shows his resiliency, as well as his athleticism, by back flipping out of the Suplex and landing on his feet! He does stumble upon the landing, as he drops back into the ropes, and this gives David enough time to get back to his feet before Danny goes rushing at him. This proves to be a mistake for the former Supreme Champion and the crowd goes wild when they see why; he runs straight into Shattered Teeth Symphony!
Mark Sanction: ”Shattered Teeth Symphony! This is it! The JnM Club are going onto the championship match!”
David prematurely celebrates with some forward thrusting fist-pumps during his drop down for the cover and the audience counts along with Tommy Tickles. ONE! TWO! THREE-No! Before Tommy’s hand could hit the canvas for a third time, he finds himself being pulled out of the ring by his feet! The official is dumped unceremoniously onto the floor by the Supreme Champion, who takes a moment to let out a sigh of relief as his team very nearly tasted defeat. Fans boo almost as loudly as they were just cheering as the JnM Club are robbed of their victory for the time being.
Mark Sanction: ”Three—No! Damnit, Storey pulled the referee out of the ring!’
Tempest: ”He hasn’t been playing dirty all match, but with Danny sure to be out there, he did the only thing he could in the moment! This match is still alive!”
Michaels gets back to his feet and steps over to the ropes to see what’s going on and he sees Tommy scolding the Supreme Champion. Mark puts his hands up to feign innocence, despite very clearly being the only person who could’ve possibly pulled him out of the ring. Sick of Mark, David decides to take matters into his own hands. While Storey’s distracted by a scolding from Timmy, David turns and runs across the ring to pick up speed. He bounces off of the ropes and rushes back in Mark’s direction before he leaps over the top rope and somersaults into a wonderfully executed Tope Con Giro, knocking right into Storey and forcing him to the ground, while David himself manages to land on his feet! The momentum causes him to pushes forward into the security railing, but he puts his hands up in time to halt himself before he could get hurt. Fans pop for the big dive as Michaels takes a moment to catch his breath and soak in the response.
Mark Sanction: ”David takes the Supreme Champion down with a beautiful Tope Con Giro, even managing to land on his feet!”
Tempest: ”I can’t say Storey didn’t have it coming, but Tommy needs to take control of this match again, before things get too chaotic.”
As if Tempest tempted fate, David turns around only to be pushed straight back into the railing by an abrupt Suicide Dive from Diamond! The crowd’s reaction sours as Danny gets back up a bit gingerly, clearly still feeling the effects of the STS moments ago, but he grins at the downed Michaels regardless, as he groans and presses the back of his hand against his back. Danny starts helping his partner back to his feet, but the booing from the fans soon turns back to cheers as they notice JHalc walking around the corner of the ring, on the apron. He waits for his moment to strike until Danny’s got Storey back on his feet and he goes to turn around. JHalc takes off, running along the apron, and he leaps off. He wraps his arms around Danny’s head on the way down and swings into a Tornado DDT onto the thinly-padded floor outside of the ring! But before JHalc can even start to get back up, he’s yanked by his hair, courtesy of the Supreme Champion, he pulls him back to his feet and pushes him with force, sending him head-first into the nearest steel ring post! It’s at this point that Tommy finally interjects with force, as he shouts at Storey to get back to his corner.
Mark Sanction: ”So much for things not getting too chaotic, Tempest! Bodies are flying and getting thrown all about!”
Tempest: ”Yeah, but it looks like Undeniable are coming out on top; the Supreme Champion is, at least.”
Storey obliges, but first he helps his partner back to his feet and pushes him back into the ring, near Undeniable’s corner. He then pulls himself onto the apron, steps on the top rope and reaches into the ring to tap Danny on the shoulder and officially tag himself back into the ring. Mark drops off of the apron and heads towards Michaels, who’s now on his feet, although he’s resting against the barricade, while trying to recover. The Supreme Champion interrupts this with a rushing European Uppercut that nearly knocks the England-born, Texas-residing man down. Storey grabs David by the head and hurriedly pushes him under the bottom rope, before following after him. Tommy gets back in the ring as well, leaving JHalc the sole person on the outside, as he’s still recovering from getting his head rung. Inside the ring, Storey pulls Michaels back to his feet and applies a Front Facelock. He then lifts David up and holds him up by his leg with his free arm. Mark slams backwards and drives ‘the Showstealer’ into the canvas with the Degradation, a Cradle DDT that the Supreme Champion delivers with authority. He goes for the cover. ONE! TWO-Michaels kicks out just at a count of two!
Following the kick out, Mark sighs, but he becomes determined to put an end to this match here and now. He drags the downed Michaels towards Undeniable’s corner and leaves his laid out body in front of it. With Danny now getting back to his feet on one side of the corner, Mark steps onto the apron from the other side and ascends to the top rope. It’s clear what he has in mind right now; Descended Upon Thee, the Supreme Champion’s Double Foot Stomp finisher! The audience lets out a mixed response in anticipation. Storey leaps, but Michaels rolls towards the corner, causing Mark to soar directly over him! He lands on both feet – as is the case with a Double Foot Stomp – but the extra force he put behind the stomp causes his left leg to buckle upon the landing. David is quick to capitalize on this, as he pushes up to all fours and then lunges at Storey from behind with a Chop Block, forcing him down to a knee! Quickly, David gets back to his feet and steps in front of Mark. He applies a Front Facelock and then hooks Mark’s bent leg, before he lifts the Supreme Champion up and drives him into the canvas with a beautiful Fisherman’s Suplex, bridging into a pin attempt at the end! ONE! TWO-Storey kicks out at two, however!
Mark Sanction: ”It looked like things might be over for the JnM Club when Mark went to the top rope, but David had the wherewithal to get out of the way and a bad landing spelled trouble for the Supreme Champion. That was a perfectly executed Fisherman’s Suplex from Michaels, but Mark is still in this thing.”
Tempest: ”More importantly, we got a semblance of order in this match again. Danny is back on the apron, JHalc is heading back now – though he seems a bit dizzy after being thrown into the ring post – and David and Mark are in the ring.”
Michaels gets back to his feet and takes a moment to collect himself while Mark is down. He looks out of the ring and sees JHalc slowly walking back to their corner. He then turns and sees Danny standing in the opposing corner, appearing a bit unsteady due to the effects of the STS and Tornado DDT on the outside. He then looks down at the Supreme Champion and he nods as he decides on a game plan. Snappishly, Michaels rushes to Undeniable’s corner and hits Diamond with a rough forearm strike that catches him by surprise and knocks him off the apron. David then turns to Mark and watches as he begins to return to his feet. David grabs the rope and kneels down with intensity seen in his eyes. It’s clear what’s going on in David’s mind right now. It’s time for an encore from the Shattered Teeth Symphony.
David fidgets with anticipation as he waits for Storey to get back up and, finally, once the moment is there, he shoots in and sends his foot flying, but Mark was prepared! He quickly rolls under the oncoming foot and, as he reaches his feet out of the roll, he extends his hand for a tag, but there’s no one to accept it. Before Storey has a chance to question what happened to Danny, he frantically turns back to Michaels and all he gets for it is to be crushed into the corner with a Stinger Splash! David moves and Storey falls down. Hurriedly, Michaels turns him onto his back and repositions him in a good spot. Then, the ‘Sultan of Sexy’ begins climbing the ropes from inside the ring! Once he reaches the top rope, David makes sure his footing is right, as he appears to be readying for a Moonsault!
Mark Sanction: ”Storey managed to avoid Shattered Teeth Symphony, but his partner wasn’t available to be tagged after David knocked him off the apron! And now, Michaels is going for something big!”
Panicked, Storey runs on adrenaline – and fear of losing – to shoot back to his feet in time to push Michaels’ leg before he can leap, causing him to slip and fall into an uncomfortable, seated position on the top rope. Fans boos as Mark climbs the ropes behind David, but he fights back. Michaels shoots several elbows back into the Supreme Champion’s head, until he’s eventually forced off of the rope, although he lands on his feet a bit dizzily. Michaels turns himself around to face the ring, although he keeps his feet on the middle rope from outside, rather than inside. Storey tries to hit David with a punch to the mid-section, but Michaels catches the oncoming strike and pulls Mark in by his hand, before nailing him with a headbutt! With Storey groggy, the ‘Highlight of the Night’ pulls the Supreme Champion onto the middle rope and pushes his head down. Michaels then, very carefully, steps onto the top rope and reaches down to wrap his arms around Mark’s body. David takes in a deep breath and then showcases a surprising amount of strength, as he pulls Mark off of the middle rope, onto his shoulders and dives from the top rope with a monstrous sit-out Gutwrench Powerbomb! The entire ring canvas shakes from the impact and even David and Mark bounce, but Michaels makes sure to not let Storey get away before he places an ankle over one of Mark’s shoulders and attempts a sit-out style pin, with fans cheering wildly. ONE! TWO! THREE-It’s the closest pin of the night, but somehow Mark manages to get his unobstructed shoulder up in time! ‘This-Is-Awesome’ chants fill up the arena.
Mark Sanction: ”Holy hell, Tempest! David landed a HUGE Gutwrench Powerbomb all the way from the top damn rope, but the Supreme Champion kicked out!”
Tempest: ”Holy hell is right, Mark! A damn crazy move from Michaels, but ya gotta give it to Storey for kicking out of that one!”
Following the kick out, neither man is quick to move. It was a big shot from David and, while Storey was clearly the worse for wear, it took a lot out of the ‘Showstealer’ too. The race is now on to see who can crawl to their corner first for the tag. Mark is closer, as it was Undeniable’s corner that David jumped from, but he’s slower to move at the moment. In the meantime, Danny does managed to get back onto the apron, however. Across the ring, JHalc is standing one foot on the bottom rope and one on the middle, arched over the top rope with his hand reaching out as far as he can. David starts to get close when Mark is able to make the tag to Diamond. Danny quickly pushes into the ring and rushes to stop Michaels before he can make the tag, but David uses all he has to leap forward and slap his partner’s hand in time! Danny stops abruptly, looking like a deer caught in the headlights, as the fans cheer the JnM Club on.
Mark Sanction: ”He made the tag!”
JHalc leaps into the air and springboards off of the top rope to hit Danny with a Cross Body not unlike the one he landed on his partner earlier. Diamond, trying desperately to stay in this one late in the game, gets back to his feet as quickly as he can, but he takes a Spinning Wheel Kick for his troubles! He shoots back up again, albeit a little slower this time, but JHalc is quick to wrap an arm around ‘The Prized Gem’s’ shoulders. He jumps forward and takes Diamond down to the canvas with a Side Effect! Opting out of going for the cover, JHalc instead calls for the end with something else. The fans cheer, knowing what’s coming next. The ‘Jack of Hearts’ pulls Danny back to his feet and bends him over. He wraps his arms around the Englishman’s torso and hoists him up onto his shoulder in the style of a Canadian Backbreaker, clearly setting up for the RJB; his Rolling Cutter finisher! With the match ready to be won, JHalc flips Danny, but Diamond once again showcases his cat-like reflexes as he wraps his arm around JHalc’s during the flip and transitions into an Arm Drag takedown!
JHalc rolls onto his feet, fortunately, as Danny quickly gets back up, and he rushes at the former Supreme Champion to attempt a leaping knee strike, but Diamond bursts forward just in time to baseball slide underneath JHalc. He hurriedly gets back to his feet and leaps into a Dropkick that catches JHalc on the back before he could turn around, causing him to stumble towards Undeniable’s corner of the ring. Danny turns to see David just now fully standing up on the apron and he puts an end to that real quick with a back elbow strike that nails him unsuspecting in the side of the head and knocks him off the apron. Turning back to JHalc, he sees him now resting with his back pressed against Undeniable’s corner. Diamond rushes in full force and crashes into JHalc’s mid-section with a high velocity shoulder thrust. He then back flips with a handstand to gain some distance and run in again, this time looking for a knee strike to his opponent’s face, but JHalc dodges out of the way and Danny’s knee hits the top turnbuckle!
Tempest: ”Danny goes for a knee strike but there’s no one home!”
JHalc quickly latches onto Diamond and pulls him out of the corner with a Back Suplex that dumps him on the back of his head and causes him to roll onto his stomach. The two get back up but JHalc’s faster and manages to stop Danny once he’s on a knee. The ‘Jack of Hearts’ hurriedly applies a Front Facelock to set up for a Snap DDT, but Danny fights back to his feet and pulls his opponent into a Northern Lights Suplex with a bridged pin! ONE! T-JHalc kicks out surprisingly after one a count of one, as the adrenaline is pumping through him. The two shoot back to their feet and JHalc unleashes on Danny with a Spinning Back Kick to his mid-section that doubles him over. He follows this up with a straight kick up, drilling Danny in the face and causing his body to shoot back upright and stumble a few steps back, towards Undeniable’s corner. JHalc, now really getting going, gets the crowd into a frenzy as he fires off European Uppercut after European Uppercut, landing eight of them in half as many seconds! Danny steps back more and more with each hit. JHalc then sends a loud smack echoing throughout the arena with a vicious backhand chop that reddens Danny’s chest. Finally, he lands one more European Uppercut, with more force than any of the eight precious, forcefully slamming Danny back-first into the corner!
Mark Sanction: ”JHalc is going to town on Danny!”
Tempest: ”He sure as hell is!”
Storey taps Danny on the shoulder to tag himself in, but this goes scarcely noticed as, almost instantly afterwards, Miles shoots out of the corner, pivots and drills JHalc with a Sudden Death Superkick from about as out of nowhere as it can be! Danny instantly goes down after landing it, having seemingly used the last of his adrenaline to get that out, while JHalc turns as he falls, setting him up in prime position for an already climbing Supreme Champion.
Mark Sanction: ”The Sudden Death Superkick! Goddamn, I didn’t think Danny had enough gas left in the tank just now!”
Tempest: ”That’s not all, Mark! Storey tagged himself in just before the Superkick and look where he’s going!”
Perched on the top rope, Mark stands up and soaks in the atmosphere, as the previously cheering fans are now booing, knowing full well what the outcome is about to be. Mark leaps off of the top rope, raises his knees as high as he can and then stomps down with force on JHalc’s torso; Descended Upon Thee!
Mark Sanction: ”He lands it! Descended Upon Thee!”
Mark goes for the cover as fans jeer, although David slides back into the ring and rushes towards the cover. ONE! He makes a big leap. TWO! But Danny barrels into David with everything he has left at the last moment to stop the attempted pin break-up. THREE!
DING! DING! DING!
”Smells Blood” hits the PA system as an exhausted Danny and David lay in a heap on the canvas and Mark rolls off of JHalc.
Mark Sanction: ”Undeniable win and they’re heading to the Championship match against Caleb Spires and Razor Xtreme!”
Tempest: ”Hell of a match, hell of an effort from all involved. And hey, the Supreme Champion only bent the rules once. Granted, Danny would’ve surely been pinned by Michaels had he not, but this was still a hard fought battle on both sides.”
Mark Sanction: ”Hard fought for sure, Tempest.”
While Tommy fetches Mark his Supreme Championship from ringside, Storey helps his partner to his feet.
Hana Ramierez: ”Here are your winners, heading onto the XWA Tag Team Championship match at Massacre Fifty-Nine, Mark Storey and Danny Diamond; Undeniable!”
Mark Sanction: ”I gotta say, though, these two have a hell of a fight ahead of them. If Razor and Caleb can stay on the same page – a feat they only just managed to accomplish enough to win tonight – they’re a force to be reckoned with. And let’s not forget, it was Caleb who eliminated Storey from Lord of the Ring.”
Tempest: ”Caleb sure hasn’t forgotten.”
Tommy hands Storey his championship and he holds it high for the world to see, while Danny raises his other arm and points at Mark with his spare hand. Breathing heavily and dripping in sweat, both men manage to have the most conceited of grins on their faces, regardless. Meanwhile, David checks on his partner and good friend, but he doesn’t shy away from shooting a dirty look at the Supreme Champion; there’s definitely still more to be resolved there.
Mark Sanction: ”Ladies and gentlemen, it’s been a strange night of Massacre; we’ve had just two matches, both in the semi-finals of this mini-tag team tournament. Bella Quinn resigned and we got a new owner. Jacob Eulson attacked his best friend Sean Young, Joey Miles gave a very impassioned speech, we saw Razor Xtreme attempt to be on a podcast, it’s been weird. But a very interesting night as well, to say the least. I’m Mark Sanction, here with Tempest, and we will see you all in two weeks!”
